Lectures, Tv-shows and Movies of different kinds. That's what I plan to use the S3 for..
I read on some forums and seen on Youtube that there are LAG when looking at moving media via Bluetooth, something that would really-really bug me! For music its fine, and the 3-4 sec lag to start a song is fine to, as long the lips are synced. And yes, I'm aware that I can use cable, but we live in 2016, and now cables should not be necessary.
Is this speaker for me?
BeoNut since '75
I'm using VLC on my PC and on my iPad and iPhone Good Reader and Infuse. The two last is crucal that its in sync.
So, I have 2 s3's, when one is hooked up to my AppleTV via bluetooth, it works fine with video however if I pair the two speakers and use bluetooth with my AppleTV they are out of sync with the video and I have to use a cable and go through my DAC. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It seems like the lag is an intentional buffering to keep the speakers in sync with each other. My assumption is that this is a product design decision because the product was supposed to be used more like a Sonos system, each speaker providing stereo sound, linked together throughout multiple rooms. They probably did'n't imagine or didn't want these to be used as a low-cost (for B&O) method to stereo sound with your TV. For that, they would prefer you use a B&O solution designed for that. Like the S8.
But it seems we all think alike and want to use these as our main speakers because they sound so great and are fairly inexpensive, relatively speaking. I have some nice AudioEngine A2 and A5 speakers, the A5's are hooked up to my main system and I was hoping to use the S3's to replace them. I originally bought 1 and was amazed at how awesome it sounded, so I bought a second one for the exact same reasons as everyone else. Well problems with getting them both to work together lead me to this website.
When I finally got them to work in stereo mode and using a cable, they didn't sound as impressive to me. I gave up, I wirelessly paired them for ambient not stereo sound and I have one in my kitchen and one in my bedroom. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
BTW In the US you can get S3's on Amazon for $127.00 in Black.
Also, there are a few other threads on this board that go into greater detail on this issue.
Did you try the software update? I read in the Amazon reviews that the lag is Gone with that update.
And thanks for your reply!
You might as well face it!
The latency, especially in stereo, is a chipset(CSR) / BT issue!
BT does not support splitting stereo into two devices. The chip set is simply doing a re-transmit between master and slave, and unfortunately it does require a bit of time.
It is possible to get a very low latency, but it comes at the cost of link stability!
Im just want to have ONE unit, not two.
