I'm looking to connect 4 Bose Free Space 51 (rated for 50W IEC continuous power-handling and compatible with receivers rated 4 to 8 ohms) outdoor speakers and assume that serial/parallel would be the most efficient way to spread the load. Then again, as I don't have any practical knowledge of using the BeoLink Passive in such setup I would like to hear what the recommendation when it comes to BeoLink Passive.

both speaker wirings give the same load to your BeoLink Passive. Just use the one which gives you the easiest way of wiring the speakers and keep an eye on the correct +/- assignement. Wrong assignment won't harm the BeoLink Passivee but the sound experience.

If you want to connect 4 speakers to the BL passive, won`t it make sense to connect 2 speakers to the left channel and 2 to the right channel?
Or do I miss something?

Wire them whichever way makes it easier to add another passive ... I currently have a passive driving both channels of 2 Polk Audio Atrium 8SDIs (each channel is wired like example 2, A and B). These speakers can be configured as a single stereo speaker which is what I'm doing since they cover different areas of my patio/pool). Anyway, I wish I could turn them up a wee bit louder. I don't know how the efficiency of these speakers compare to your Bose, but from my experience, I'd say 4 speakers is a lot for a single passive, unless you only listen to quite background music, or have close/fussy neighbors
