I have a problem with my sonos +beolab 8000 system. One of the speakers do not turn on if they are in (L) and (R) possision? There is allso a bit of noise from the speakers when they are not playing?

Welcome to Beoworld!   Is the problem new to an existing system or are you setting the system up for the first time and having the problem?   How are you connecting the Sonos to the 8000s?

I would think that both speakers should be in Line position.

L/R is used when they are connected via Powerlink, which has both Left and Right signals. I guess the Sonos outputs Left and Right as 2 different line signals, so they should just be connected to the Line on BL8000

Hi Majkk,

Welcome to BeoWorld!

Beolab 8000s should work perfectly with Sonos Connect, without any background noise.  The description below applies if you just have the speakers and Sonos connected, ie. no B&O music system or TV.  Please remove any 8 pin Powerlink cables from the speakers, as these aren't needed.

Please set both speakers to "Line" mode using the small switch next to the input sockets.  The choice of cables is important to prevent background noise, if your are hearing noise through the speakers then the existing cables may be unsuitable.

Here are the cables you need to connect the Beolab 8000 speakers to a Sonos ZP80/90/100 or Sonos Connect:-

http://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/6-av-processor-pre-amp-sonos-to-beolab-rca-line-in.html

Volume control is arranged via the Sonos, ie. from your smart phone or tablet.  The speakers should now turn on automatically when the music plays and they should turn off three minutes after the music has stopped.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards, Steve.

Thank you for your answers! I have the system hooket up, and today one of the speakers turned on and of, when the system was turned of. When i looked at the cable, the pin sticking into (line) was broken. Can this be the reason why it turns on/off? This is fearly cheap cables....

Hi Majkk,

No problem!  Here is a link to the cable in white at 10m lengths (there is a choice of 10 colours for this version of cable):-

My standard cables in blue work out cheaper, but this "high-end" cable gives you the best sound and the choice of colours.

Kind regards, Steve.
