Hi,
I just have a few small questions regarding some settings on BS5. What are the following settings doing when I select them?
Maintenance -> Start Recovery
Maintenance -> Delete Database
Service Settings -> Rebuild Music Server
Service Settings -> Transcoding
And, will any of them delete any of my Music or Picture files?
Thanks in advance.
Hello,- recovery = will set the system into the status when it was delivered by the factory = everything is deleted. You'll need to install the updates again etc.- delete database = I guess it either deletes all music / photo files or it just deletes the information about all music and photos and rebuilds it afterwards
- rebuild music server = rebuilds the server infrastructure and information for use with DLNA clients etc. (Artist, Album, Song...)
- transcoding = ? eventually this will build up and scan all tracks for the MOTS function!? I don't know for sure, so better consult the user guide. ;-)
Barry Santini:Transcoding: For those who ripped their Beomaster/Beomedia music into the then recommended (by B&O) WMA lossless format, this option transcodes these files into FLAC ....on the fly...for use with the Essesnce/Moment.
Amazing! I just spent a few hours converting a copy of my BS5 collection to FLAC for exactly this reason (to use with Essence and Eclipse). Now, I find it is completely unnecessary - that the solution was right in front of me since at least 2016. I'm happy (no need to re-place my music collection) and sad (I want my hours back that I spent doing this).
