Where is the good ?

Sometimes a picture says more than a thousand words ...

What do you mean with good?

Is that your place? Doesn't look too bad I'm sure but the box is still on the wall. Although a pretty box. But beosystem 4 is not as pretty

Michael:

What do you mean with good?

My mistake double negation,- it should have been, what is the BAD? Big Smile

It was simply a reply to your statement :

• It requires the BeoSystem box to be placed elsewhere - which can be both good and bad.

What is the downside of the Beosystem approach?

I thought the massive arsenal of cables required to connect a BV11 was a pretty good argument for the benefit of the Beosystem approach!

One HDMI, end of story! Smile

Incidentally, One of the dealbreakers, when I chose my TV was the umbilical cord  of the Avant 55. You have to admit, it doesn't add to the appearance of the otherwise sleek and cool design? Wink

Well I don't see much difference, and I don't see your tv just a lot of cables on the floor :).

As I've already stated, it can be good and bad. Not everyone wants to mount stuff on the wall. For example, where are your external devices? Also on the wall? I have an Apple TV in my BV.

I've had other tvs before with just HDMI out from a receiver and sure it's nice but still there is one more box to put somewhere. I don't miss it, but in my new house I could hide it behind the wall. Not where I lived before though. And it would be trickier.

That is the point!

Either you hide it in the tv or behind a wall (if you are able to?) or in a seperate cabinet?

Some prefer the first, others prefer the other.

But it is a fact, that a lot of the BV buyers 'only' have the tv with its built-in sources and a hidden ATV box - plus wireless connected external speakers.

Why the h**k should they want a solution with 'one HDMI cable' and the worries of hiding of an external box?

Not one shoe fits all - and certainly not just one size of shoes.

MM

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Watched the BV14 and Horizon today.

BV14 has stunning picture, even with non 4K material. The settings where what came from the factory, and it produced a picture I judged superior to my BV11-46. I only looked at the 40" version. The oak fret is really nicely done and will look supercool in the right interior.

Settings menu look B&O, so no worries there. Smart TV / app part is where you see that its Android TV. Everything was snappy and fluid.

After seeing what the picture is like, I'm not that concerned it lacks HDR support. Agree it's a shame from a spec/price point of view, but for actual viewing this Beovision is as good as it gets. I'm impressed and hope we will see a professional review in e.g. FlatpanelsHD soon.

Horizon share the same panel as I understand it (you can see the panel identity in the menus), but have different video engine.

Also, the contrast glass on the BV14 really makes the image pop, compared to the Horizon.

Indeed... that's why I opted for the BV14 instead of the Horizon... The 48" would have been more suited for my appartement... but the image quality was too different...

BeoOneBT remote is a joy.
The B&O menu's are clear and snappy... The Android part... is somewhat messy.

Imagequality is stunning on HD.. Can't wait to access some UHD after the weekend..

Being one of the more technically challenged members of BeoWorld (I treat PUC as meaning "please use carefully" ) I am very wary about venturing into this thread regarding the lack of HDR on the BV14.. There is an article in this month's Which? about some of the problems with this feature.  It suggests that HDR is not at present quite a TV revolution.  Indeed, in some cases it states that HDR is doing the opposite of what is promised.

Although I got the B&O virus back in the 1960s, I think that I shall continue wait until next year before changing my BV7-40 Mk 6

But you can look at 4K content from Youtube, right?

We had friends over at the weekend, as it was the first time they have seen my V1. They had recently brought a new low cost generic 4K TV with HDR (cannot remember the make) but they thought my V1 in HD must have been 4K ,as they said the mage was better than their new TV playing 4K content of a streaming site, the colours of the V1 were better and more realistic.

So I guess the moral of this story is not what you have, but the way you use it!

Hi,

If you are considering either Beovision 14 or Horizon, but you are wondering how best to integrate your existing audio system, then this may be of interest.

I have developed a cable that allows an older Beosound to connect directly to either of these new TVs using the L/R In socket on the TV - for a single room setup, this can often remove the need for the £600 NL/ML Converter:-

http://soundsheavenly.com/televisions/158-powerlink-to-beovision-14-horizon-cable-link-your-audio-system-to-your-new-tv.html

Any B&O audio system with Powerlink outputs can be connected (eg. Beosound 3200, Beomaster 7000, Beocenter 9500,etc) as the cable allows the audio system to share the TV speakers directly.  If required, one of the function buttons on the BeoRemote One can be assigned to select the L/R In socket, to allow music playback via the TV speakers with just one button press.

I have also built similar cables for linking an audio system directly to Beovision 11, Avant and V1 TVs, via the 9 pin AV socket:-

http://soundsheavenly.com/input/138-9-pin-av-cable-for-beovision-11-12-new-generation-avant-v1-and-beosystem-4-powerlink-input.html

Kind regards, Steve
