Bv7Mk3:Will you be buying the new Bv14 or the Horizon tv? Be nice to see your choice!
Be nice to see your choice!
Interesting thread, but maybe a bit unnecessary - no way would I say if I was buying something I know nothing about (the Horizon). We don't know pricing, sizing, how it looks, nothing?

Oh crikey. That's awful. It looks like a flatscreen designed for a market circa 1984?
I do really like the BV14 though. I'd be seriously tempted if I didn't have a BV12-65 hanging from the wall!

My choice is probably the Horizon as price is better. I think it can look rather good on the right stand. But it is hard to say how it will look in real life as it has only been one amateur picture of it yet.
If either any of the released TVs were up to date spec wise, which must include HDR capability then yes, I would buy. However, there is not enough of an upgrade for me at this time so it looks like the 2017 OLED model is the one I'll be buying, assuming the company is still trading. Simon.
B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.
Just noticed that the new Horizon isn't too visually different from the new LG OLED TV:

Very similar specs, too :)
If OLED and HDR then I might take a look. Difficult to downsize from 55" to 48" although doable if I am impressed enough, which given recent offerings from B&O I doubt very much.
I won't be buying, no, but as I mentioned in the other thread, maybe the wooden frets can be made to be backwards compatible with the most current BV11 chassis? I am not holding out hope, but it would be nice if they were. Excited to see what other colors are in store for the wood in the future - akin to the BL18's current options.

I'd very much doubt that (however much I'd like that to happen) as that's the distinguishing new visual feature of the BV14.
Besides, they have have changed how the frets connect to your TV. We've had magnets, then fasteners, maybe they've gone with something else for the BV14 frets?
Its to early to shout a big HURRAY or being negative about their new line of tv’s.
But Android? I have my doubts about it, at B&O they have not even made a good functioning Beomusic app.
"Believe nothing you read and only half of what you see, let your ears tell you the truth."
Not a chance.. Yet anyway..
I will not buy a temporary Android TV with TP Vision guts, when we know that LG from next year will take over the TV section 100%
The feeling I get with the 14 and Horizon, and probably the Avant NG, is that some guy took the decision that the new platform should be TP Vision, but then they found out that the platform is already outdated, and they cut their losses and went with LG..
I fear that the support / bug fixes for 14/Horizon will be very limited, and in 2 years I will stand with a TV with no support that costs 60000 DKK.. No way I will take that chance.
I will wait and see what the LG deal will unveil. Until then I am very happy with my 5000DKK Samsung TV bought in 2011, never had one SW issue, never let me down once, never had weird red LED blinking, never needs a reboot to work.
Negative input. I know, but I really am not happy with B&O at the moment. Way to many bad decisions.

Why did they have to choose Android? LG uses webos. I don't like the security of Android. Basically Google is just a collector of information for advertising purposes.
I guess I won't have to think about this TV. It won't be available in the US until December 2016. With the way things are going, most of the stores in the US will be closed by that time.
Will you be buying. No in my case.
Having bought a BV7-55 in 2011 and a BV11-55 in 2015, there is no need for a new TV. The main capability of a TV set in my view is a decent picture (both have) and nice sound distribution and generation capabilities. In addition, I rather add smart capabilities with external devices as they develop over time - key is to have good interfaces to the TV set.
However, if I would be in the market right now, I would also measure up my expectation of a TV set in terms of longevity and its capability to grow over time ... in this regard, I would argue that the new to be announced TV sets from B&O will measure up.
Good who is in the cycle for replacement ... in my case it is a bit early...
From hdvtest.co.uk published April.
Contrary to popular belief, the purpose of HDR (high dynamic range) mastering is to expand the available luminance range rather than elevate the overall brightness of HDR videos. High-end display calibration software maker Light Illusion has published this exact quote from SMPTE’s ST.2084:2014 standard “High Dynamic Range Electro-Optical Transfer Function of Mastering Reference Displays” on its website:
This EOTF (ST2084) is intended to enable the creation of video images with an increased luminance range; not for creation of video images with overall higher luminance levels. For consistency of presentation across devices with different output brightness, average picture levels in content would likely remain similar to current luminance levels; i.e. mid-range scene exposures would produce currently expected luminance levels appropriate to video or cinema.
What this means is that for most scenes, 4K Blu-ray’s Average Picture Level (APL) in HDR should not deviate drastically from that of a regular 1080p Bluray in SDR (standard dynamic range). Indeed, that’s what we found in our own 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray vs Blu-ray comparisons.
Judge for yourself. It's hard to talk LCD though when you've seen OLED.
Man, such prices for a 40" LCD gives me little hope for the 65" OLED coming out of the LG collaboration...
I've had a 55" 1080p OLED for 2 years and can never go back to LCD. Think I'll have to go for the 2016 LG models.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there
BeoMegaMan:The BV14 wood grills will fit the BV11. Your wish has been granted!
Holy mackerel!!!! Any word on pricing, colors offered?
Now if only B&O would release another sound system to add to the Essence and Moment in the collection... BeoMegaMan... can you share any juicy details?
Ai....not for the BV11-46
koning: Ai....not for the BV11-46
Correct as the BV14 is only available in 40 & 55.

B&O product history since 1991: Ridiculously long to list in a signature.
KMA:From BV11-46 to... ...BV14 (technical shortcomings considered) ...BV Horizon. Based on today's info, I will not be upgrading. Might change my mind – pricing will be a key: I do know what I can get for €4500, 55", OLED, 4K. Integration, and interplay, play a big role. Today, with an iPhone (or Android phone) as a remote, and sources being digital, it's easy to build a setup that is made of many brands, and have it all in the palm of your hand. And given that B&O's design is "all over the place", it just does not hold the perceived value of "ooh, that's something only B&O does" to me anymore. For me, B&O has always been worth it – experience, design, technical excellence – now I'm not so sure. I used to buy (and exchange/upgrade) just about everything they had, from 1991/1992 to 2010. Then I got hesitant. Today, I may be even reluctant. And that is due to many things: design, quality, customer experience, technology, price, value, brand: if I opt out, it's not about one single thing, or two or three things. It's a sum of what I don't experience anymore. So I am considering.

rob08:If the bv14 had HDR and my dealer would offer an OK trade-in offfer for my BV11, then yes I would buy. As it is now, nope.
I own the BV11-40 and see no reason at all to upgrade, especially now I've found the wood fret will fit the BV11-40.
I'm really impressed with my BV11-40. The picture quality is superb and even SD is good I often do not realise I'm watching, say, the BBC in SD. You certainly notice on the BV12-65 though!
After 10+ years of a BeoVision 3...
Bought a BV14-10 with oak grill and installed it yesterday... Just exploring all the new stuff :-)
