Hi all,
I have just got an Beogram 7000 including a working Mmc4.
However when listening with the Mmc4, I find that it distorts the high tones quite a bit.
As part of the deal i also got an Mmc2 that is broken (no cantilever or diamond).
I am planning to send the Mmc2 to Germany to have it fixed. But the question is now what cantiliver and diamond to choose.
Should I just go for the standard configuration of the Mmc2. Ie. Saphire cantilever and line diamond, or is any of the other combinations better? For example Boron cantilever ...
What are your experiencens?
Mike

I got the shibata stylus - I also got a standard MMC2 set up done on another. I like the Shibata personally.
You probably have better ears than me though. The MMC4 is probably worn - when new, the MMC4 was a perfectly good cartridge.

You are probably right about the mmc4.
How is the shibata stylus compared to the standard line diamond. Is it more "warm"?
I just receiver a restored MMC 4 with Shibata stylus and alu cantilever from tonabnehmerservice.de
At a pricetag of 255 euro Im very pleased. Lots of low end, a Well defined mid and top without any annoying harsh sounds.
