Baobabs would be the ideal outcome, love the 3s i have in my lounge.......might be a squeeze in bedroom, unless i put the 3s up high, which i'm always hesitate to do, though might be what i end up doing, angled down i guess......damn....you've got me thinking.....

So there are two 30W speakers in a Horizon as opposed to three 32W (?) in a V1. Where's the progress there?

Has B&O a factory in Poland? Looks like it says "Made in Poland" on the sticker on one of the photos.

The Horizon is made by and is based on a video engine from TP vision (Phillips). That's why it's made in Poland!

Interestingly enough the BV14 has the same reduced speaker output power (30w vs. 32w for the BV11) and the exact same connector layout as the Horizon.

I recently had another look at the Horizon and tried to like it but my attention was drawn to the frets and the frame which are of better "perceived quality" than some would assume from the images. However it's not progressive enough to get me to buy it. What's the USP of the Horizon? One online review refers to the frame as being in plastic, the aluminium is so well done and the speakers do not include the centre that the V1 has.

Is the picture quality also the same?

They have different a different coating / panel covering, or whatever the right word is.....the Horizon screen covering gives it a slightly tinted feel, so the picture, qualitatively, is quite different from the BV14.....though not necessarily in a bad way.........they seem to be selling pretty well from what i am told, the lower price certainly helps....

Hard to compare, since the BV14 has the reflex glass panel.

IMO both look good each  in their way.

If you however, are used to the PQ of e.g. the BV11 (with the front glass), you might not like that of the Horizon.

I am used to the PQ of my BV8-40 (without the reflection glass) and find the PQ of the Horizon fine.

They are different - but both good.

I was thinking of updating my BV11-40 to a Horizon 48. I really like the design of the Horizon. It reminds me of the BeoVision 8 that I had earlier. However, there might be a huge drawback to the Horizon. As far as I can see the TV supports bluetooth commands only. No IR support. If this is true it is a complete dealbreaker for me. I do not want wireless transmission to be on at all times - that is just creepy! Can anyone approve og disprove this? If true, I will go for the 11-46 instead Whistle

BeoVision Eclipse 55, BeoPlay S8 (sub+rears), BeoPlay A9 MKII (living room), BeoVision Avant 32 DVD (retro gaming, basement), BeoLab 4000 (entertainment room, basement), BeoSound 8 (workshop), 2x BeoPlay S3 (PC), BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay H2/H3 (on the go)

Hi Beoberg,

it is definitely so.

There is NO ir support on either of the new BV's.

Why not go for a 11-55 instead  Whistle

Hi Millemissen. Thank you for the info. That is just crazy! I cannot believe it. The 11-55 will not physically fit in the space where the TV sits in my living room - that's why Unsure

You refer to wireless transmission. The Bluetooth has nothing to do with wifi. Or do I miss understand your concern?

Hi Hiort. I see why you misunderstand me. I mean the wireless Bluetooth signal. I run wired ethernet in the entire house for the same reason I do not want a bluetooth remote Embarrassed

understood, the BV14 / Horizon works via bluetooth with the supplied remote......the supplied remote itself is also IR, and can work with older TVs, but the new TVs themselves communicate via bluetooth....

Do the new TVs support PUCs i.e. Do they transmit to IR gear like STBs, ATVs, or is the BR1BT some kind of universal remote ?

Is supposed to work just like with the previous BV's.

The BROneBT is for B&O devices.

yes they work just like the old TVs in that sense........i haven't set my 14-55 up to operate other devices yet, as its connected to a matrix....but yes, it will work like the old set up.....not that much has changed, however buggy the initial software was when the 14/Horizon was released.....though they are better now, and a big software update is due in early December to bring all the multi room functionality to the new TVs.......

i thought about an 11-55 initially, but the picture is better on the 14-55 from my side by side comparisons.....not miles better, but definitely better and the 4K does look pretty good......i liked the Horizon too, not to everyones taste picture wise, but i liked the slightly tinted finish......

To my knowledge the panel in the Horizon and the BV14 are identical (you can see the model number in the menus). The contrast screen makes a lot of difference in making the image pop on the BV14.

completely agree, yes the same panel......i did have a soft spot for the Horizon, i liked the softer image.......just needed to indulge my love of the 11/14 form factor, its still so elegant after all these years....

However using the same panel does not necessarily mean that both are calibrated in the same way.

I guess this is also a matter of taste (and personal adaption). Those who had a BV8 might find the picture of the Horizon more pleasant than the 'glassy' one of the BV14/11.

BV8-40 is glossy but has no contrast glass, where the smaller models is matte I believe (like V1-40")

I second this, I havent seen it in the US but at Harrods in London and actually prefered the understated design over the more flashy BV14 which caught me by surprise

Hello there

I tell you what the sound on the horizon was not to bad either. I am very underwhelmed with the sound from the V1-32 in fact I refuse to play any music through it in my bedroom it's that bad.

When at a store yesterday I heard music through the Horizon and it sounded alright with enough bass.

was told still scheduled for early December, but who knows.....perhaps it is the week 51 that someone else suggests.......my BV12-65 got an update last night, release dated 26 October, bit weird, no idea what it has delivered........

there was an under the radar update for new Tvs (14s and Horizons i guess) for those with specific issues - but you need to contact your dealer so he can release it to your set.......havent does it yet but will, as i still have occasional sound drop outs.......

Hi Sandyb,

your BSys4 probably got the same update as the V1 and the BV11 did.

This added Netradio functionallity to the setup.

Don't like the android interface it's horrid. Feels like a mobile phone OS much prefer the classic bang and Olufsen menus.

I installed Netflix yesterday and everything worked just fine. Surround sound and all.

Today when I turn the TV on I get an error code (-13). Why is this? Nothing has changed since yesterday??
