Hallo,

Yesterday I picked up my second hand BV 7-32. What a beautiful TV, especially on itś electric floorstand. As the TV does not have a DVB-C connection so I connected a Humax decoder on it with a HDMI to DVI cable. For sound i also made a connection.

I selected on the input sources AV4 to be DTV and selected the right IR outlet and selected a Humax stb. However I only get sound.

When I choose PC as input for A4 I get sound and picture (very nice sharp HD). However in the connections menu I choose the right IR outlet but do not get asked which STB is connected so I cannot use my BEO4. Seems strange that you can choose a IR outlet but cannot choose a STB.

I can control the Humax if i connect it to the anlog AV4 input but only get SD picture. I also tried the DTV option with the component connections, but again no picture.

Any ideas how to get all working?

Depends on the software version inside the BV7-32.

A mk1 doesn't support HD-(ready). Only the mk3 will and several upgraded mk1 or 2's.

With software lower than 7.94 you only can choose STB-DTV or STB-VAux. Then you will get a submenu with several STB's to choose from.

Start with checking the softwareversion.

So Here is my software levels from the menu:

Type: 9311

Item no 1816679

IC3 AP SW 4.0

IC2 IOP SW 22.0

From M2 menu:

M2: 04.10a

M2Boot: 04.10a

So do I understand correctly that with a software level higher than 7.94 I can choose a settopbox with PC selected on AV4 and/or get a picture if i choose DTV for AV4?

Who would be able to update my software level in The Netherlands other than a expensive dealer?

I suppose noone!

This is something that you let a skilled B&O technician do - only then you can be sure to get things done correctly,

and you would have a warranty.

MM

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Ok.I understand. But first need to find out if the software upgrade would solve my issue.

Thanks

Sorry to disppoint you.

The 9311 is a BV7-32 mk1. The highest software level for this screen is 6.3. (both hardware and software has to be replaced/flashed)

Software 7.x is meant for BV7's with the hd-ready scaler on board. The 9331 for instance has this as a standard.

Mk1 (9311) and mk2 (9321) can be equipped with the hd-ready kit. But these are hard to find. It's easier to find for less money a mk3 panel.

So, you just have to use 1 of the scart inputs and use an ir-socket for controlling the settopbox.

With its SD scaler is doesn't give you much benefit in picture quality by connecting over DVI or Component. Using the scart (AV1-3) will give you the benefit of a menu-overlay, which disappears when you use DVI or Component.

Thank you for that info. Iĺl keep de decoder connected to DVI though as the picture is in 720 and is as such much sharper than SD. Shame that you can select an IR outlet but not a decoder op PC. Makes me wonder what it would be selectable in the first place.

Iĺl also keep an eye to find an MK3 or higher panel.

Interestingly enough (for those reading along). A Humax 5000c STB works fine on the DVI socket at 720p but a Humax 5050c at 720p not. The picture appears and than the screen goes black afer a minute or so.
