Maybe it's like the controls Klaatu used in his spaceship in the original "Day The Earth Stood Still," or like a Theramin. Just wave your hand up and down and it senses it all around the device...will definitely be interesting to see, sounds like it has potential for being a traditional B&O looking device, metal and such, as opposed to the Play products which are plastic. I'm looking forward to seeing them.
I worry about B&O, and hopefully they will get their act together better than they have been. I used to care about audio a lot more than I do now, back in my "high end" days, and was concerned about this company or that, rooted for them. Now I mainly only care about B&O's health, for the simple reason that no one else makes audio gear that matches my admittedly modern/mid-century tastes, I get so tired of just another metal or wooden box.
I still care a bit about McIntosh and Klipsch, as they are two iconic brands for the US, and there are damned few of those still around and still producing the same kind of gear, regardless of who ultimately owns them (I know about foreign investments in them, especially Mac being owned by Asians). But you can still get a classic corner horn from Klipsch, and still drive it with a big Mac amp with gorgeous blue backlit gauges and controls. But to own personally I will go with B&O. I fell in love with the catalogs with the gorgeous photos of modern, minimalist interiors and Beogear. So I hope these products both look and perform well.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Razlaw:.............. don't understand it's need to know where you are standing.
My visualization is similar to that of a tablet: A tilt switch identifies the orientation of the screen (landscape/portrait etc) and adjusts the screen visuals accordingly. The BS1/2 is probably meant to be operated "in the round" - say a kitchen island worktop where it can be accessed from multiple directions.
It may well be as suggested previously mono/Omni sound.
I guess we will see soon enough
Hiort and others who have heard it playing: I'm planning to let the Beosound 1 replace a Beolit 12 I have in the window post in my kitchen. Other than giving me link capability, how will it compare in terms of sound quality?

I am now sat listening to the new BeoSound 1 with an ice cold beer in hand....
It's killing me not being able to tell you any more than that. Aaaaaarrrrggghhh!!!

Is it equivalent to any past B&O , Lee ?

I've signed an NDA so I can't say anything until 1pm CET on the 31st August.
I'll have a really good, in-depth report by then
I'll post it on here at 13.00:01CET on 31st August...
Yeah I know. Only joking . Look forward to reading your report .
I really look forward to your review Lee! I really want to get the 1 or 2, just don't know which yet. I will have it on the kitchen pass-through which has shoji screen that open up. The space at the bottom is very small and I doubt that a regular power cable will fit through. I have a Klipsh G17 there now with a power adaptor cable. I am wondering if the BeoSound 1 will have the smaller cable since it is battery also.
I look forward to seeing it. You will have to be my eyes and ears since I doubt I will be able to audition it myself, but I suspect it will sound a lot like my other B&O components!

Since you're under NDA for the Beo stuff... Tell us more about the beer then!
Karel.
Well... it's cold, and Danish actually!
It's a new beer being developed by Carlsberg, and I've signed an NDA... etc etc

Westvleteren is not Danish... It's Belgian, as are Chimay, La Trappe, Orval, Rochefort and Westmalle to name a couple of the trappist beers... But also worth mentioning: Duvel, Hopus, Affligem... :-)

That looks like it would not have been a good idea by me to take a photo at the place I had a good look and listen to the BeoSound 1. Especially for the guy who showed me the BeoSound 1. Maybe he has overseen the mail about non disclosure until August 31st ...

Do I ?
Hiort: I would say the BS1 has a more open and balanced sound, than the Beolit, if that makes sense. The acoustic lens makes a lot of difference.

I'm currently taking it around every room in the house. I've also listened to it in a 3,600 sq/ft warehouse - and outside.. so far.
I tried to book a day on the International Space Station, but being a Bank Holiday this weekend they were full.....
As for the guy merrily showing it to people last week - he clearly signed nothing, and wasn't told to keep it a secret! LOL
Thanks! That sounds promising. Looking forward to hear it myself, hopefully this coming week.

Michael, go next time for the real 'Trappistenbier' brewed in a Trappisten monastery by monks, there are only 6 who may carry this name: Achel, Chimay, Orval, Rochefort, Westmalle and Westvleteren. Those are the best beers brewed exclusively by monks. Although this monastry's are not any more what they used to be, the worldwide brand awareness made them difficult to get (Westvleteren). 20 Years ago I could buy a crate Westvleteren with 24 bottles every week, now its reduced to 60 days for every buyer.
Rochefort and Chimay are nice good beers but they are brewed from a old abby recipe in a commercial brewery not always at the town or monastry and under licence, so they are commercial beers. Try to get the real thing and taste...

Razlaw:Thanks. I still don't understand. Guess I will have to see it for myself.
Imagine some food on a plate. You push all the food to the right hand side of the plate, then walk to the other side of the table and do the same again - the food moves in the opposite direction.
This is why the BS1 needs to know where you are standing - so it knows if you are swiping to the left or the right from 'your' perspective.
Martin.

I disagree which is why I do not understand. The food is inside the plate and being pushed side to side. That is different than swiping on the outside of something that is round. For example, imagine/assume the new Beosound is round. And on the top of it is a clock. The hands on that clock are always going to be moving clockwise, regardless of where you stand and look down at. You could be standing at 12:00 in which case the clock will be upside down from your perspective, but the hands will still be moving clockwise. Similarly, if you are asked to swipe left, which would correspond to clockwise as you look down at the clock, or in other words swipe in the same direction as the clock hands are moving, you will always be swiping in the same direction.
Or put another way, place your hand on the Beosound, start swiping left. If you walk in a complete circle around the Beosound without ever lifting your hand off of it, you will be doing one continuous 360 degree swipe around it's perimeter. Thus no matter where you stand, no matter where you touch or swipe along the perimeter of a circular item, left is always left, and right is always right.

Razlaw: Ah, the misunderstanding seems to be the following: You think of the swiping as happening along the circumference. If so, yes. Clockwise will always be clockwise, regardless of your position. But the swiping Martin is describing is not happening along the circumference, but rather along the diameter of the circle. In that case, your position relative to the circle becomes relevant, and this is what the motion sensors on the Beosound 1 supposedly does.
If the swipe is done in the air directly above the Beosound, then I agree with the plate analogy. I am picturing, from what has been written here, swipes on the side of instead of the top.

Yes, the swipes are across the top surface of the product, not around the circumference or sides.

BeoSound 1 - The sound mono.
Peter Pan:BeoSound 1 - The sound mono.
Save your money for genuine Bang & Olufsen audio gear.Yes, I know so you must buy secondhand B&O. But so you also get true B&O, you can be proud of. Just cheaperand made in Denmark. Just my opinion.
Peter Pan: Who will settle for mono ??
Looking at the fact that B&O is selling A1's at a fast pace... a lot of people!
