Forgive me but I can't fathom why B&O are bringing out two more mono speakers?

Haven't we already got enough small speakers from the Beoplay range and lower down on the B&O range...!

.

Present: BL90, Core, BL6000, CD7000, Beogram 7000, Essence Remote.

Past: BL1, BL2, BL8000, BS9000, BL5, BC2, BS5, BV5, BV4-50, Beosystem 3, BL3, DVD1, Beoremote 4, Moment.

This is in the Bang Olufsen range with Beolink multiroom possibilities and the Beomusic app, so this is a new kind of speaker..

Peter Pan:

Who will settle for mono ??

Looking at the fact that B&O is selling A1's at a fast pace... a lot of people!

Imagine Peter Pan doing the dishes in his kitchen equiped with a set of traditional (stereo) speakers.

Must be very hard to stay in the sweet spot all the time and get things done.

Definition of 'sweet spot' (from Wikipedia):

'The sweet spot is a term used by audiophiles and recording engineers to describe the focal point between two speakers,

where an individual is fully capable of hearing the stereo audio mix the way it was intended to be heard by the mixer.'

This BeoSound (and the BS2) is made for rooms where (more) people move around - stereo and sweet spot makes little sense there.

the bs1 is actually exactly the type of speaker I've been waiting for. hope it's small enough and battery life long enough. also curious whether it will work in a bathroom? or outside?

for me the use case is crystal clear. it has NL, so integrates into a real B&O system. the A6 somehow does it, but it's a play design and quite large. so, this product is perfect!

Very nice ! :-)

And what about the BeoSound 2 ?

Apparently, the dealers have just the small BeoSound. Do you think the big brother will be unveiled at the IFA ?

Love the alu body, the B&O signature... :-)

I saw it yesterday, and it's just beautiful :)

I also hope we will see the Beosound 2 today, at least some pictures.. It will have a little different look..

I like it very much. I just hope that the 'tactile pad' will be more reliable than the one on my dead Beosound 3 (I had it serviced 3 times...).

I think its one of those designs that grows on you. Bit odd at first but then you see the beauty in it. Hated it at first but now I am feeling glimpses of love :)

Waaay too much aluminum for my taste. I would have prefered a mid-, buttom- or topsection with wood. The design is just not balanced - and does not even fit in the current range of B&O products. I have a hard time seeing this fitting in with contemporary furniture too - it is too non-organic and mechanical. Looks like something out of a 80's sci-fi movie that shoots fireballs...

BeoVision Eclipse 55, BeoPlay S8 (sub+rears), BeoPlay A9 MKII (living room), BeoVision Avant 32 DVD (retro gaming, basement), BeoLab 4000 (entertainment room, basement), BeoSound 8 (workshop), 2x BeoPlay S3 (PC), BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay H2/H3 (on the go)

Indeed it does although I think they have the beosound 1 and 2 names the wrong way around part way down the page.

First time I've seen cables visible in a publicity shot.

Looking forward to seeing and hearing them in the flesh.

Both the BS1 and the 2 seems to be online on all webpages now.

Prices:

1: 1.295€

2: 1.695€

imo the 2 looks superb.

Did not plan for one, but I will have to reconsider now ;-)

The Website page says "unplug it once in a while", so nothing to do with some battery life ?

Design-wise, the BS2 looks great anyway. Can't wait to listen to it now. I'm still not so sure how I would use it though.

I think it just means unplug it and move it somewhere else to try it in different positions.

Will stores have any demo units soon? I wonder how it sounds. I'm really impressed with my A9, so wonder how this compares.

Very excited by these! We've got the smaller (and portable) multiroom speaker so many of us were hoping for. Which. Is why I THINK I'm more keen on the Beosound 1 than the 2 - although I'll reserve judgement for seeing and hearing them in the flesh!

I'm guessing B&O's remotes will work with these? Essence remote, BeoRemoteOneBT etc. Hoping that command can be passed through to the BLGW.

They are different and that's a good thing. (would not put the A1 into the sun). Having said this, they compete with the A9 and others in de Beoplay range? — why would you place the BS2 instead of a A9?

Had to run over to my local B&O store during lunch just now, after seeing the BS1 and 2 go live on the webpage. I knew my dealer was supposed to get one this morning, and now I've listened to it.

It sounds, in my opinion, absolutely fantastic. Granted, it cannot compete with a full fledged setup like you would have in the living room, obviously. But hen again, it was never meant to. Most noticably the bass drops out beneath a certain frequency. I noticed this in only one of the songs I got to play to test it, which has a very deep bass floor that sounds nice with a decent subwoofer like a BL19. But this is not criticism. You can only do so much with a 4" element, no matter how good the electronics are. For its size and intended use, the Beosound 1 sounds terrific, and I left the store with a huge smile on my face. I need one for my kitchen. I wanted to play songs I know very well so I had planned on the three following:

Helge Lien Trio - Snurt. This is a demanding piece of music for any system, I think. The Beosound 1 handled it very well for its size.

Frøder - Wild. This is where the deepest parts of the bass disappeared. Other than that it sounded good.

Kåre & The Cavemen - Rock 'N' Roll Farmacia. This made me grin. There are so many instruments in there, and so much punch. The Beosound 1 managed this convincingly.

Also, the design is beautiful. The official pictures on the web are good, but you have to see it in the flesh to get a feeling for the build quality. It looks like anything but a speaker. The acoustic lense on the top has groves for the fingers on the inside, making it comfortable and secure to carry. Looks to me like a thoroughly well designed product.
