I have the above, and today they are connected with a MK2 cable..

The display works fine, and shows source and volume, but when muting the BS3000, the sound goes away, but the penta displays still shows "42" instead of "__" .

Is suspect this is a standard issue with the newer beosounds, vs beomasters with mute relay. If I use an old BM4500, then the penta's mute fine, including the display.

Is this just something that is "as expected" when using newer beosounds with older speakers with display ?

Hi Weebyx,

If the cable is "fully wired" (ie. a proper mk.2 cable) then the Beosound 3000 should have correct control of the Pentas, so the displays should update correctly.  I'm using a Beosound 9000 with Penta mk.3 speakers whilst typing this and the displays turn off immediately when the 9000 is set to standby.

Are the cables working correctly?  You are welcome to try some of my cables on a 60 day no-obligation trial basis to see if this resolves the issue:-

The problem is not the display and control of it, that works fine and turns on / off(and shows correct source) with the BS3000, the only issue is the MUTE function. When pressing MUTE when connected to a Beomaster 4500, the display reads "__" for volume, but when connecting to the BS3000, the display stays at the soundlevel last set by the BS3000. eg "42"

What happens on the volume indication on your Beolabs, when you set the BS9000 into MUTE with the remote, does it stay on a level, or does it change to "__" ?

Sorry Weebyx!

Yes, my speakers behave in the same way as yours when the system is set to Mute, ie. the speakers show their volume level instead of "__".

Kind regards, Steve.
