Hello, I would like to control my BT vision box with my Beo5.

The Beo5 is already programmed with the BT vision commands.

But I understand the TV has to be programmed as well and I need to select from the STB list for the IR controls the BT vision, which is not in the list.

Is it possible to update the list of the device to control through some software without bringing the TV (BV 7) to the dealer?

Any idea anybody?

Thanks!

No need to bring your TV to the dealer... but the dealer has to come to your place to upload the device control data to your TV.

You cannot do it by yourself on BV7.

Ok, thanks for the quick answer!

The dealer just to come and update the list of channel charges 225 pounds.

I was hoping there was another solution :)

Thanks,

Pier

225 pounds for stb update!?

You're kidding, right?

This update should be free as is the case with many dealer.

My recommendation: for your next B&O purchases, change the dealer!

They should charge per hour and the charge should be around £65 or so. It doesn't take an hour to flash update the BV7.

B&O have designed their recent TVs so you don't get a puc list by default, therefore they can't go around charging £255 every time a customer wants a simple update!

Maybe it is not too bad having two remote controls :O)

I won't pay 225 GPB just to update the list...

If anybody know some honest dealer or some way to do it on my own I will do in the future.

Many thanks

I doubt you will find a dealer who does it for free. Why should they?

Wake up, nothing is free and we all want to earn some money.
Yes it is true, that b&o  prices are far from reality.

But I don't think they have the right to ask for more than  a electrician required per hour.
B & o TVs are quite expensive, and I think the software price  was
paid  before by the buyer.

That is my opinion, what do you think?

Agree, I'm not asking to have it for free :) I just think 225 pounds to update the list of the remote devices is not a fair amount of money to ask.

The TV is expensive, I know... but it's a very nice product, you pay for something different... having someone to come with a laptop to upgrade a list of IR devices for that amount - in my opinion - is too much.

In 2012 we should be able to download updates from internet and easily upload into the TV, without requiring a technician to come.

I'm a dreamer :)

Mine does. It's part of the negociation.

Of course, you're right.

My point is that the update of the PUC list shouldn't be charged as it is a very simple operation for a dealer especially with the more recent TVs as it can be performed via masterlink.

Now everytime I change my stb, blu-ray player etc... I have to ask my dealer to come and update the PUC list, and he will charge me!?

As said previously, this should be part of the negociation at time of purchase.

If you or anyone needs a SW update or PUC update in London I can do it for a reasonable cost.

Just get in touch. I'm a B&O installer.

Is this the Wimbledon or Kingston dealer charging this much? I ask as they are your local dealers and Kingston is owned by B&O UK, Wimbledon on the other hand is independent so prices may vary between the two.

Try a company called J&A services in Kingston, they are very friendly and do very good service/repair and even install work.

It was the one in Wimbledon...

I got it done yesterday! by coincidence it was J&A :) very nice and 1/3 of the price!!!

Thanks for the tip.

In any case I saw that there is a big span of price... I called different dealers, the higher I found (the 1st I called closed to where I live) was 255, others 155 etc.). J&A was the best I found.
