Does anyone know what the price is for a mainboard BM5
Are they still making the main board, or do they source it from stockpiled parts?

Duels:There seemed no problem getting one.
Thanks. In another thread I expressed my reticence in perhaps pulling the trigger on a BS/BM5 due to its end of life. The fact that there's apparently no problem getting one is a good sign for those of us who are dissatisfied with the current crop of B&O Music Systems. Especially because I've heard that certain BM5's (I don't know which), have a propensity for their main boards to fail. Would be a pity to buy one and have it fail soon with no hope for it to be fixed.
This thread brings back the topic of potential end of life in electronics. Good discussion. As my BM5 is now soldiering on with the 4th motherboard (last one spring 2013), I am thinking about buying a spare one...hope that this is possible. Other than the motherboard, I have not experienced one other flaw, therefore, some investment into life extension or protection of investment seems wise.

Mine just went out as well. Considering the many years that I've had my BeoSound 5 and how much I've used it, I wouldn't be upset with the investment if I couldn't get it repaired. It was well-loved. Paying around $500 to get a few more years of life out of it would be money well spent.
I help off for a few week on getting the repair just to see how I could live with the iPhone streaming that the new products -- other than the Moment -- rely on. I just can't stand it. The experience of relying on an iPhone is not nearly as natural and satisfying as approaching the BeoSound 5 to make a music selection or even to use the 2-way functionality of the Beo6 remote.
Right now, I'm just not in love with the Moment as a replacement. I'll continue to use the BeoSound 5 until B&O comes up with something truly better.

Yeah, the Moment wasn't right for me, but I've begun to find the Essence isn't all that right for me either, and I'm not willing to pay as much of the premium for the Moment for the only slight convenience that it might afford to make up for the shortcomings of the Essence. But I also realize, the longer I wait, the more END OF LIFE the BS5 becomes -- a sad catch-22 I'm afraid.
You're right though, $500US for a few more years is totally worth it. But potentially paying over $1500 for an end of life BS5/BM5, only to have it croak and forking over another $500 is a tough pill to swallow.

Actually, $2000 for a BeoSound 5 (full version -- don't settle for the stripped-down "encore") is a pretty great price. I've thought of getting a spare. Although, you have the same (rather inverse) problem that I have with ML and NL. In order to merge the two systems, you have to budget in another $1000 for a NL converter. This has deterred me from upgrading my BeoSystem 3 to a BeoSystem 4. As a tangent, I feel that at the BeoSystem 4 is already obsolete (no 4K and no Dolby Atmos). It's a shame that B&O doesn't price the NL converter more attractively to encourage people to embrace NL.
While the BeoSound 5 is end-of-life, B&O is still doing a great job of updating N.Radio stations when requested, and by its very nature, the BeoSound 5 isn't outdated with the N.Music since it simply serves as a server for our digital music library.
Here I started a topic of rescueing the Beosound 5 / Beomaster 5:
