Hey Guys, just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jason Campbell and I am the preferred installer for the B&O  store here in Seattle, WA.

I joined this forum as an enthusiast for the brand, as well as an owner.  I recently picked up a pair of BeoLab Penta Mk2 speakers.  As well as BeoLab 8000 and a BeoCenter 2300.

The 8000's are going to be resold to a friend of mine, but the Penta Mk2's are all mine. I've been looking of a set in this good of condition for awhile now, and was happy to take them of the PO's hands in exchange to installing his new set of 18's and a 19.  We had to completely re-wire his install with Cat7 (replacing the Powerlink cables) for the new setup.

The 2300 is a Japanese import I picked up from a different customer. I reconditioned it and converted it for power use in the US.  The AM/FM tuner will not be used, so it was left as the original Japanese tuner pack. I used it for about a year in my office, and am now selling it to a friend who will use it more.

Looking forward to learning for all of you,

Jason.

Welcome to the family, Jason!

Since you're the preferred installer for the Seattle store, can you share some of your more interesting, or perhaps more extravagant installs? Your favorite ones? Ones that gave you headaches, etc? I think we'd all be curious to hear.

If I recall correct, it is quite easy to change the tuner of the 2300 to US spec via jumpers on the tuner board .. It is described clearly in the schematic for the tuner :)

It is easy to change the tuner, but the new owner is not interested in the tuner. In fact, he could care less about it. He plans to use the CD and Aux In functions only. I did however let him know that if he ever want to change the tuner for North America, it's as simple as letting me know.

After a complete break down of the Penta Mk2 speakers, I found that the Mid-Range Divers are all shot. The rubber surround has rotted away for each of the speakers. I pulled one out, and the ITT/Nokia Part number was located on the magnet!  After much searching, I found a supplier that was willing to send the exact same model (Nokia LBP  80/19/120 FS) in the quantity needed, which was 8, for €350 shipped. The catch? He is in Greece. It will take a few weeks for them to arrive (let's hope they do), and I'll have a refurbished set of Penta Mk2's.

So, if anyone out there has some Pentas that need the mids refurbished... I know a guy ;)
