Chris Townsend:(...) and some Bluetooth ANR H6's(H9s)
This is great news! I've really been waiting for the combination over-ear, ANC and wireless. Do you have any more information? Like how soon "soon" is? :-)
This would probably be too much to hope for, but a dream scenario would be that B&O has been allowed to license the W1-chip from Apple, for inclusion in this new headset...

I think B&O have more hope of having a poop in the Queen's handbag... Apple own Beats. Beats make headphones. It's be like Coca-Cola letting their branded vending machines have Pepsi in them.
Still, we can live in hope...

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

Maybe you're right. And I certainly don't expect the W1-chip to show up in these new headphones. That would, as I said, be too much to hope for.
But look at it this way: The Beoplay headphones and Beats headsphones are not really competitors, are they? The people you see with Beats headphones never actually chose between Beats and B&O when they were shopping for headphones, did they? They chose between Beats, and Bose, and Skullcandy and whatnot. And someone who ends up buying a pair of H8s was never really contemplating buying anything from Beats, were they? They might have been considering other "luxury" headphone brands like B&W and the likes. Beats is mass market, not uptown. If we were talking about Bose instead of B&O, that would have been something else, I think. But B&O, with their Beoplay headphone range, covers a market that Apple does not. And in that sense they compete with other uptown brands, not Beats.
And it might be advantageous for Apple to license the W1-chip to at least a couple of headphone makers to cover markets they don't cover themselves, as it might actually attract buyers to their iPhones. If you had recently bought some killer B&O headphones, noted for their sound and design, and they featured an innovative new W1-chip alongside the regular bluetooth... what kind of phone would you rather use them with? An Android something-something? Or an iPhone with a W1-chip? :-)
I think the comparison happens quite a lot between beats and beoplay.
ive seen several people sell headphones online saying they bought both brands and think one or the other is better.
most department stores and beats and beoplay on the shelf thesedays, Apple Store does too...
I guess that Apple will be interested in licencing their technology to other headphone makers too.
Sooner or later they will have to - to (real-life-) justify the now missing headphonejack.
