I know this may sound like an odd comparison, but does anyone own both the new BS1 and the A1? How do they compare? I believe they have the same amount of total power (60W), other features aside.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

The power rating isn't really a meaningful measure when comparing two very different loudspeakers. Just from having listened to these in the store back to back, it was quite obvious that the BeoSound 1 can do a lot more with the available power simply because of its larger size – the bass was much richer, deeper and felt effortless compared to one or even two BeoPlay A1s paired for stereo. I'd like to say I preferred the midrange and treble on the A1, but this is probably due to my suboptimal positioning in relation to the BeoSound 1, so I don't want to make any definitive claims about that.

I think member Aussie Michael has both, maybe he'll chime in with a comparison.

Beovirus victim, it's gotten to be too much to list!

I have both. They are both completely different.

I turned on the a1 the other day and thought oh no in comparison to the Bs1.

Don't forget the Bs1 has a downward firing driver as well as the top.

The a1 is great don't get me wrong but in comparison to each other the Bs1 wins every time

Good to know! I have an A1 and am always impressed by it.

I actually went into the B&O store just yesterday and heard the BS1. It does sound much fuller than the A1. The clarity was awesome. Though I feel it struggled in the bass when at higher volumes, but ultimately I was impressed. I think the BS2 will be the perfect balance for only $400 more.

The Rules Of Bass: High efficiency/spls, small size, deep bass, pick any two.
