Thanks to many in this forum, I have successfully integrated my BV7 into a NL environment. I am using a NL/NL converter in A.Master mode.

As a next step, I got an IR eye, which I have connected to the NL/ML converter.

Unfortunately, I have not succeeded yet to get this to work. The only thing that works is to stop the music on the BV7 by pressing "join". I cannot start/restart/control volume or anything else.

Any ideas?

From my knowing, connecting that ( join-type ) IR-eye to the NL/ML converter is only usefully for its functions if you connect some active speakers to the converter's power link outlets.

Do not expect that it will control any more functions if you're not using the outlets.

This is correct, I have an NL/ML converter is such a setup.

With speakers and an IR eye the NL/ML converter acts like it is an ML Active kit.

thanks. that's a pity, would have loved to control my BLs (attached to my BV) with the eye.

Livius, would love to understand your setup better. you have BLs attached to the ML/NL? anything else attached to the BLs? can you "join" via the ir eye other NL devices? can you "join" other NL devices via the beomusic app?

I have BLs attached to the ML/NL Converter. Attached are an BS4 via ML and V1 via NL. An IR Eye is connected as well.

I can press the join button on the IR Eye and it will join the active session, either from the NL or ML network. The BeoMusic app is not supported for the NL/ML Gateway, The BeoRemote App does work.

Thanks. This is a very interesting setup and I will have a lot more questions.

So, you are using the PL, ML and NL connection all at the same time? Your BS4 and V1 all use / play to the BLs attached to the PL of the ML/NL, right? What happens if you play a CD on the BS4 and watch a movie on the V1 at the same time? What audio do the BLs pick up?

The V1 also has its own speaker. Do you switch it off or can it be configured to play together with teh BLs?

When you say that the IR eye allows you to join an active session. Does it start anything if no session is active?

I have an ML/NL converter and use the Beomusic app (and it works). Have you tried to use it with your setup?

Any thoughts on above. Curious how to use the MLML in combination with ML connected BV and PL connected BL. Thanks!

>> Sometimes.

Your BS4 and V1 all use / play to the BLs attached to the PL of the ML/NL, right?

No, The BS4 has no speakers and is using the V1 speakers. The BLC ML/NL speakers are independent.

What happens if you play a CD on the BS4 and watch a movie on the V1 at the same time? What audio do the BLs pick up?

This is not an option in my setup, as the BS4 has no speakers. The BLC ML/NL is off or using an audio or a video source. Keep in mind that the BLC ML/NL has two 'independent' functions. Converting ML/NL protocols and an 'Actice Kit'

The V1 also has its own speaker. Do you switch it off or can it be configured to play together with teh BLs?

>> The BLC ML/NL is used as a link speaker and in located a different room as the V1. As such they work independent

When you say that the IR eye allows you to join an active session. Does it start anything if no session is active?

>> It will use the last active source.

I have an ML/NL converter and use the Beomusic app (and it works). Have you tried to use it with your setup?

>> The BeoMusic App does not show the BLC ML/ML

Got it, this is very helpful. Thanks. Let me see whether I fully understand and ask some more questions.

1) Your BS4 via the ML/NL acts as a NL device. You play CDs from your BS4 via your V1. You do this by selecting the source from the V1 and just play it on the speakers attached to the V1.

2) You do not play music from the BS4 to your BL speakers attached to the ML/NL.

3) The IR eye controls the speakers attached to the ML/NL. These speakers act as NL speakers (and not ML speakers).

3) How have you set up your ML/NL? As A-Master?

4) Have you tried playing from the V1 both to the speakers attached to the V1 as well as to the speakers attached to the ML/NL? In-sync?

>> Correct, just like it work when you have ML

2) You do not play music from the BS4 to your BL speakers attached to the ML/NL.

>> I do hear musing from the BS4 to the BLC ML/NL

3) The IR eye controls the speakers attached to the ML/NL. These speakers act as NL speakers (and not ML speakers).

>> As either, The BLC ML/NL can be used to hear ML audio sources or NL sources

3) How have you set up your ML/NL? As A-Master?

>> As a V-Master, this is required in order to use the BS4 from the V1

4) Have you tried playing from the V1 both to the speakers attached to the V1 as well as to the speakers attached to the ML/NL? In-sync?

>> Yes, and it is in-sync.

thanks, this is great. I almost got it now.

so, you can still play from BS4 to the ml/nl attached speakers? in this case, the music is a NL signal that can be joined by the V1 or any other NL player (A9, BS1, etc)?

Yes, the BS4 outputs sound to the speakers attached to the BLC ML/NL and it is possible to join what is played by the BS4 by any NL capable device.

thanks, that's great. do you happen to know whether I could connect a non-b&o TV to the line-in of the ml/nl and have it play to BLs attached to the ml/nl? I'd assume it should work, but don't know whether video and audio will be in sync?

I do not know if there is a delay on the line. This might be the case in order to provide buffering when line in is distributed over NL.

Thanks! Anyone else has an idea whether I can use the ML/NL to connect a non-B&O television to Beolabs? Question is whether the audio stays in sync with the video?

Sorry for pushing up this thread again, but I am really curious whether this will work. As recap, I would like to connect a non-B&O television to a ML/NL and play to BLs connected to it via PL. It should work, but the question is whether the video (on the television) and the audio (on the BLs via PL) will be in-sync. Thanks in advance for any thoughts you may have. Thanks!

Hello,

I have an NL/ML Converter which I will soon try to use as an "BeoLink Active" i.e. connect speakers to it and use these in a seperate room.

Question:

I will need an infrared eye which looks almost identical to the old ML eyes used with BeoLink Passive and BeoLink Active (ML products). Can I use such an IR eye or will I need to buy a new eye for the NL/ML Converter or will it not work? Obviously the connection will need to be done with RJ45 but shoudl be fairly easy to crimp on a suitable cable.? (I see a physical difference, the eye for the NL/ML Converter has the text "join" on the button where the previosu eyes has "play"written btu that difference wouldn't bother me.)

Many thanks, BeoMedia
