good evening
I currently have in my living room a beovision 7 ( with a beolab 7.1) to watch TV and a beocenter 2 ( dvd type with a pair of beolab penta ) for music and to watch DVD with a video projector
I had to set my Beovision on option 4 to be able to use the dvd player of the beocenter 2 without switching the TV on
I just purchased a beosound 5 encore : any suggestion on how I should connect it to the beocenter 2 to enjoy Nmusic and N radio without having to add another pair of speakers the room ( B&O suggest use of a master link cable to connect Nmusic medias to the beocenter 2, this probably works with older devices such as beomedia 1 but the encore does not have a master link connector)
thanks in advance
Philippe
Unlike the regular BeoSound 5, the Encore version was intended to be a standalone music player and has no MasterLink connection or capabilities. The only way you can use it with other products is through the headphone jack.
BeoLab 5, BeoVision 7-55 MK2, BeoSound 5 Encore, BeoSound 9000, BeoLab Penta III, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 6000, BeoLab 2, BeoLab 7-6, BeoSound 8, BeoTime (analog clock), Beo 4 remote.
It's easy:Just connect the Powerlink outputs of the Encore with the AUX-In of the Beocenter 2 using the appropriate cable. You have to change the Option Setting of the Encore two prevent both music systems from reaction to remote control commands. That's the downside of this standalone system.
sorry for the delay ...I had to make a lot of " try and errors" experiments:
connecting the beosound encore to the beocenter 2 A AUX works but it is quite cumbersome to use : you have to set the beosound as a linked product ( option 4) and then, each time you want to use it , start both devices separately ( beosound with link/ N music or N radio and beocenter with A Aux)
I found a more elegant solution by connecting the beosound encore to my beovision 7 using a beolink converter and a custom made cable ( powerlink to datalink): with the right options set, you can play your N radios or N music files on the speakers connected to the beovision by just hitting the CD and radio buttons on the remote
This is great because I can use my be0time again
Hi pibouquet
Could you please tell us more about this 'costum made cable?
Who made it - where can you buy it?
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV

Hi plbouquet, I would also be interested in learning more about this cable! I am thinking about integrating a Beosound 5 (encore) into my Beosystem 5500 (MCL) setup and would need a cable like that.
Also, what beolink converter did you use? T1611? And what is the "right options set"? I would like to hear more!
Thanks,
