Get something mature that won't spoil your initial experience by constantly breaking down. The money you save, you could get some complimentary speakers too.

An 11-55, a 12-65 or in my case a 7-55(which has fixed itself!)Yes - thumbs up

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

It wasn't put back on that top row but I still had it installed anyway. When I went to log in it said it appears this device has been deactivated, click here to reactivate. Then Logged in again and got in. Followed by Nelflix prompt to upgrade to Ultra HD content if you wanted. Smile

So i've updated my software, difficult to know exactly what the list of bugs they addressed were........i'm philiosphical with this kind of transition, though with a few things still a bit janky, difficult to know whether ongoing frustrations are down to the Android / Google Play store just not working (half an hour ago i could open the store, now it wont..)...and YouTube isn't working.....or whether its down to B&O and its implementation of the Android TV OS........i've generally found (pre / post update) the wireless connection for me is sketchy on the 14-55.........will hard wire it in soon to test it........

Anyway, the Avant NG will have the Android TV OS for anyone wondering........i do wonder why they made this choice, but then again i was fine with the old OS and using external boxes for other services......but the industry as a whole is moving in this direction, and in my view, wrongly.....tv manufacturers are not good at OS / UI / cloud services integration.......

oh, and Product Integration, which was greyed out pre-update, seems to have disappeared, so i have little confidence the multi room capability will be delivered end November as suggested....it will arrive for sure, but lord knows when.......

rant over, apologies....

my Netflix is now not working.......device incompatible message....speaking to the dealer today, he doesn't seem to think Netflix should be working....the Android part of the OS is the bought in from Phillips (as was the home media stuff on the old / existing OS), and from he was told Phillips and Netflix weren't playing nice, so didnt expect Netflix should be working.......no big deal in the end for me, given external boxes, though just thought i'd share.....

Think we should separate out the two issues with the new screens.

The Android TV part is not something B&O develop, it is bought in from Phillips, in the same way as the old Webmedia stuff was. B&O are not taking the Android TV OS and having a load of programmers reskin it and develop it, from what i am told. As such, the app experience, development and availability has little to do with B&O. People will have different expectations over what Smart platforms can and should deliver, i personally have limited expectations..

Where B&O are accountable for are the incomplete aspects of the first delivery - though the main one, the absence of multi room for a few months, was well flagged, so isn't a surprise to a first adopter. The other things that have been a bit sketchy (my sound was disappearing at times) are not the sort of thing you would expect for a premium product.

Anyway, if they have released a beta version, then they are not alone.....Apple, who generally take their time and release when right, still push out software into the semi-wild for months of beta testing for the dev community to iron out bugs......while i'd like to think B&O should be above this, connected devices are much more complex in their interactions, so i kind of get it........most of this will get sorted relatively soon...........

I don't own these sets but I think that they depend heavily on the google android system. It's not anymore based upon the old engine. Settings are done throughout the google interface (even setting up speaker groups).

I actually own one....my dealer explained the above to me......and having used one for a month, the Android TV stuff is just the smart tv stuff....the rest is B&O, and the options are very much the same as you currently have / i have on my 12-65......once you enter settings, its all very familiar B&O options and menu structures, and its all very simple, and nothing to do with the google.........for example, the multi room stuff that will be added has little to do with google.......so yes, while the two parts need to integrate to a small degree, they are largely independent......might be worth spending some meaningful time with the new tv's......the look is a bit different yes, but everything is not running through google, in fact if you dont use the apps, you can ignore it....

will if i get a chance.....the changed aesthetic doesn't mean the whole thing is 'run through google'.....we shouldn't confuse the two......when you press the settings icon, it looks extremely similar to the current / previous system........

Sure of what? Yes there is an Android OS, and the Smart TV / Android stuff is more upfront, not hidden behind a Webmedia option, but your point that settings are controlled through google is misleading, as it suggests they have ceded control......when in fact there are two separate underlying parts, the Smart app ecosystem which is bought in, and the settings of the tv and other linked B&O stuff, which is B&O controlled......just because the two underlying parts appear under the same new aesthetic doesn't change the above.......but as i say, spend some time with the new interface and talk to B&O......anyway, doesn't matter in the end, this will be on the Avant NG and likely future televisions...........and we should embrace change, much as i liked the simplicity of the old interface, things move on, and the old interface would have started to appear dated to some, and the old Smart capabilities werent exactly good.......

Are you sure?

I am sure!

The audio engine - with all configuration possibilities - is the same as before.

The engine is an updated version of the BSys4 engine.

The SmartTV stuff is handled different and is more in the foreground now.

Obvisiously the guys in Struer think, that this is how people want their tv to be today.

Today is about content (apps) and not about (connected) devices.

Personally I think, that they might be right - but only if (!) the content actually is there on the choosen platform.

I still tent to want a 'connected devices user interface' - gives you more freedom in picking which 'provider', you want for your content.

I am not sure you are correct (or that I am). I watched service videos about the new sets and they seem to say that the tv indeed are based on google and that it runs the system. I simply want to see how it looks in reality. Wouldn't make much sense to run android os beside a different OS. Would mean extra hardware for once and more development differences to take into account.

What I've seen is setup apps made by B&O that runs in the android system. I haven't seen the "old system" on the new one and I would appreciate pictures of it as it seems it is still there?
