Didn't say that there were separate OS's......nor did i say that the old system existing alongside the new........as MM has pointed out the audio engine is based / is still the BS4, so you point about settings being run through google is misleading......what does it matter anyway.....and the pictures posted above show the settings menu structure, and appears very much as before, and not Android-y, which i think is some peoples concern.......
Millemissen: I am sure! The audio engine - with all configuration possibilities - is the same as before. The engine is an updated version of the BSys4 engine. The SmartTV stuff is handled different and is more in the foreground now. Obvisiously the guys in Struer think, that this is how people want their tv to be today. Today is about content (apps) and not about (connected) devices. Personally I think, that they might be right - but only if (!) the content actually is there on the choosen platform. I still tent to want a 'connected devices user interface' - gives you more freedom in picking which 'provider', you want for your content. MM

Completely agree......some people wont be satisfied until they get their old aesthetic back........the old was nice and elegant, but would have looked dated in a few years..........

I didn't say it was a bad thing if Android TV is the main system. It just looks like it IS android, very much so. I don't know how the system works - I am curious about it though. I don't understand what you mean I am misleading about, if the settings are made through a Android system, aren't they made through an Android system? I am very confused :)
so what if it is Android......interest is one thing, we are all interested to varying degrees, you will have all the functionality you had before, under a changed aesthetic.......but the setting of your equipment, internal and linked, will be to all purposes the same.......i'd prefer a dumber set, with the settings andnmulti room functionality, and the smart stuff done on external boxes, but thats me.......

So what if it is? I don't have a strong opinion on it but you said earlier that your retailer told you that Android was just for the smart tv feature and that everything else was still the B&O system. I was confused about what you meant since it all seems to be run in the Android environment - at least to me. I would guess that B&O are taking their ideas and porting them over to the Android environment so we still can use them. Such as the stand control, speaker groups, product integration, IR/PUC support, electronic curtains and so forth. It is mostly software so most things can be ported I assume. I find it quite interesting and it is a big leap to jump from one system to an entirely different one. This means a lot in terms of work for B&O and perhaps not that much for the end customer. They will have to change their entire way of developing and hopefully this is in a good way. Instead of relying on a operatingsystem tailored in house they now run Android (I guess). This means of course good and bad things, the first bad thing is that it will share code with many other sets, making it more prone to hacking. That can be a safety concern as android Tv has been targeted before, but I would not worry.
Yes agreed, it is all run in an Android environment, the retailer wasnt saying Android was only part of it...there are distinct parts in the sense that the app environment (outward facing lets say) is bought in, the rest B&O control, including the settings........the Android bit only really matters for the Smart app functionality.....the rest B&O control, and the underlying programming environment shouldn't matter......your inference was the whole way the system (apps environment and internal settings / multi room functionality) had changed, and to the user the latter hasnt, especially y given the settings menu and workflow is by and large the same..........yes i suspect it will be a challenge for them, but i guess standing still would have posed its own challenges too......
I have a Horizon 40 inch. Last weeks software update seems to have made the OS less stable. The remote and TV tend to crash more often. But what is the most frustrating, since this software update the TV does not keep the bass management setting when switched off. Every time when I switch on the TV I have to go to the "bass management" in the settings menu and I have to answer the question whether I want to apply the bass management with "yes" in order to get the sub to work on all of the speaker settings. No such issues on the prior version of the software. Does anyone have the same problem?
yep I have the same problem with a Horizon 48.
My dealer is going to inform B&O. I suggest to contact your dealer. The more complaints, the sooner it gets fixed.
By the way, I understand that last weeks update should have ended connection problems between TV and remote. Unfortunately I noticed that this problem appears not to be solved.

that said, i dont think the update has fixed everything.....i lost sound again yesterday, same as happened a few times before the update......
i presume you have sent a "usage report" to B&O from the tv..........? think it helps them resolve these issues......
Michael:Very happy I didn't replace my Avant yet.
Duels:Original avant or new avant?
I have just been informed that there indeed is a bug in the audio-part of the software and that this will be rewritten. As the connection with the Beoremote One BT concerns; there should not be a connection issue. B&O thinks the problem should be within the TV and that the TV should be shut off from power for a time (+ half an hour). Afterwards the remote should not have connection issues anymore.
And skip the remark about the remote. I just had a failure in the connection between the remote and TV again after the TV had been shut off for more than an hour. There is a bug in the communication between TV and remote!
Hi guys,
Do you also have trouble using chrome cast? On my Horizon it doesn't seem to work. Furthermore I'm very happy about this new television. The software seems more stable after the update. Still work in progress though.

Chromecast is something that does work on mine. The communication between iphone and TV via Chromecast (Deezer) is ok. However I would give it not 100% yet as bugs do appear. Sometimes you have to press the Chromecast logo on the screen of the iphone and select the Horizon to make the connection.

Audio seems to work as well. But video seems to be the problem.

I have not tested this after the update. I will try.
Aussie Michael:So BV 14 55 Should I Or Shouldn't I ?
Should I
Or
Shouldn't I ?
With my knowledge today I would wait a while. I was informed that there are plenty of issues to be solved.

I'd agree with that - if at all.
There is a tv - and there is a BV
If you get annoyed by software bugs, i.e. early adopter stuff, then wait.....anyway all of this software will come to the Avant NG, so can't really side step it in any upgrade.....
All that being said, i'm warming to the picture quality of the BV14(55) that i have......and that as an avowed plasma fan, and love my 12-65.......different pictures qualitatively, but the 14-55 does produce an excellent picture, especially once the judder / motion smoothing nonsense is turned off.......
also depends on what you're coming from / expect.......for a step change, only the 2016 LG OLEDs achieve that.....they're jawdropping....
You should wait. The current Software is too buggy.

Youtube via Chromecast works on my Horizon.
Do you think they'll dare to increase the price of these televisions very soon? I hear they might.
simon8201:Do you think they'll dare to increase the price of these televisions very soon? I hear they might.
vlohjr1:It's going up in Nov by 8% I think
is that on all products or just some of them?
Aussie Michael:That will affect the balance sheet
