Sandyb:Imagine if there is a price rise in the pipeline it will be for everything surely? Everything in the UK will be going up for currency related reasons...Apple raised all U.K. prices for that reason, why would B&O leave some out?
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
thats a fair point, although the last time the pound dipped this low was immediate aftermath of Lehman brothers, and rose steadily afterwards, albeit not back to where to started from........this may be different though, as foreign producers may not view the decline as temporary, i.e that the pound will remain relatively depressed, so i'd be very surprised if they did not pass through at least some of the exchange rate effect........
FT this weekend reports that Microsoft and Dell are joining Apple in raising UK prices, so i'd start from the premise that this is a general move, and work backwards from there........
Sandyb:From what I understand it is the same TV just with the new Android software....
Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)
ah, didnt know that, wasnt what i was told in a brief conversation with my dealer......thanks, will be interesting to see then.......not sure what new hardware extends to, new actual panel?

yes i think that was largely my point, however badly made....it will be a broadly similar proposition, albeit with the new software platform.....and likely not enough of a difference for existing avant owners to switch up....after all the 12-65 and 12-65 NG werent too different, unless i'm mistaken....but i guess we will see soon enough....

As for real-life differences - maybe we will know better/more, when it comes into the shops...
...and into the homes of some of us.
Generally speaking the same hardware/software as in the BV14/BV Horizon will be in the NG-Avant.
I would not expect any support for HDR and co before the LG/B&O-tv's arrive.
By then these features will be mature and finally standardized - and by then we will probably even have (more) content for it.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
I was told by a dealer last week that the new TVs with the LG screens are not expected till earliest end of 2017 but more likely to be spring 2018.
Yes i agree, and have alluded to this in the past........the issue B&O seem to have is that OLED screens may not be yet at the stage where they last long (say meaningfully beyond 5 years).....and that is key to the pitch of B&O at their current prices.......so yes OLED screens will still function at 5y years +, but their performance may dull somewhat.......so given what i've been told, i wouldn't expect anything in shops until then as well....

A bit disappointing and bad for B& O if nothing is happening in their Beovision lineup during the whole of 2017.
Guess they have to start communicating around the new TVs during autumn 2017.
Livingroom: BL3, BL11, BV11-46 Kitchen: Beosound 1 GVA, Beocom 2 Bathroom: M3 Homeoffice: M3, Beocom 2 Library: Beosound Emerge, Beocom 6000 Bedroom: M5, Essence remote Travel: Beoplay E8 2.0, Beoplay EQ, Beoplay Earset
I can hardly believe that.
I heard from a 'reliable source', that the 'guys in charge' already have seen prototypes.
But - as usual - we can only speculate.....

KMA
B&O product history since 1991: Ridiculously long to list in a signature.
Considering that the BV14/BV Horizon were sceduled to be launched already in spring 2016 (before summer) and that they probably were 'decided' before the co-op deal with LG became reality, it is likely that these will be interim models.
Just another view on the subject - time will tell.
KMA: badgersurf: I was told by a dealer last week that the new TVs with the LG screens are not expected till earliest end of 2017 but more likely to be spring 2018. Makes sense. The TVs just recently launched will be "relevant" longer and have more prime time on the market.

And have more time to have the buggs out!
The use of the pincode system is that thieves might take away a television with a pincode protection.
So therefor the worth of the television on the stolen products market is much lesser then without a pincode protection system.
But on the other hand if your television is stolen they will for sure not bring it back if there is a pincode in it.
Here's my advice: disable the pincode to get rid of these problems

Duels: A bit of a short-term, "I'm alright Jack" approach.
... but great for the second-hand market!

I can't tell how it is, where you are located?
But in Denmark 'the thieves' generally know, that a BV (probably) is pincode protected....
....and stay away from them.
Where does the pin code fit into the discussion subject of the thread?
Beo Century ,Beoplay V1, Beocenter 6, Ex-Beolit 12, Beotime , A8. Beolit 15 , Form 2i , Beolab 2000, Beoplay A3.Beosound 1
Geez - you're right - how did that get here?
Probably Alleyman posting in a wrong thread ;-(
Has anyone purchased the Brass Edition of the BV14?
I wonder if you could order a black BV14 with that black stand from the Brass Edition and just have a "monolith"
I have been doing a bit of reading this evening on Philips OLED TV and their ambilight and ambilux. Philips left the Australian market a number of years ago, and I was reading about how their TVs are made by TP Vision - and that got me thinking about an earlier post I recall reading in reference to the Horizon, and further more in to the software purchased to run the android.
A number of reviews I read on Philips 4K TV were that the "android is very buggy" and the reason why one big Aussie retailer JB HIFI stocked Hitachi TVs (the same Aussie distributor) in lieu of the Philips as they couldn't sort out their Android platform in time.
If B&O are in bed with TP Vision making the Horizon, that got me thinking , is this perhaps the real reason why the BeoVisions aren't fully stable - because of the software platform purchased from Philips?
@Aussie Michael
It is a mystery to me, why (oh, why) B&O choose the (buggy) Android platform for their current tv's.
Next B&O/LG BV's probably won't use Android - since LG is using webOS for their tv's.
Wonder if I ever will get an answer to this.
Only reason that I can think of is, that the deal with TP Vision was made before the liason with LG became reality.

I am not an Android guy myself but I wouldn't say Android per say is to blame, rather I think it is B&Os development of Android apps that is not yet perfected. I guess someone decided they should abandon the operating system they built themselves (!) and to port EVERYTHING to Android. Not a small thing to do, whichever OS you are porting to. It might very well be thousands of hours of codewriting. And making everything work with a platform that probably never was meant for special hardware like B&O is probably rather difficult - hence the bugs that are present - but don't forget the sets are still very new. I remember my V1 had a lot of issues in the beginning, with everything running a little smoother by (almost) every update. Same goes for my Avant 2014 that has the same OS. Although it worked better since I got it later, but had it's own flaws, and still has updates to fix small bugs here and there, almost three years later. WebOS might certainly work also, I don't know which system is best. But I do feel that having Google knowing everything about my TV habits, meaning how I watch culture, news and so on is a little scary - and in the end might be something Google uses to profit from.
Will be interesting to see of the B&O/LG screens have webOS or not, have no idea myself.....
Just been to my dealer, after my replacement BV14 has exactly the same bugs as the initial unit, which i expected of course, as this is all software issues......there is a web call / conference by B&O for all their dealer network in the next few days to explain how software issues are due to be addressed, apparently in a week 5 update.....with multi room functionality due in week 10........baited breath etc....
thinking about swapping my BV14-55 for a Avant 55 (not NG)......cant remember how many ports on the (not NG) Avant are HDMI 2.0 / HDCP 2.2.....i only need one as it will receive everything from a 4K matrix.......thoughts welcome....thinking being, i get a 4K set with the old B&O user interface......
guessing Avant owners are happy enough with the picture quality on their sets? thoughts welcome......
Sandyb: Will be interesting to see of the B&O/LG screens have webOS or not, have no idea myself.....
According to my sources they will absolutely have webOS. I guess thats part of the package when B&O select LG as the one providing screen, OS and manufacturing of the complete sets. Assume B&O provide software for audio and speaker technology and perhaps some picture control.

That sounds likely, for sure.
Next thing - when will we see (the first of) these new (!) BV's? Personally I think, that it will be quite soon.

That is what I have heard too (March 2017) - poor BV14/Horizon/AvantNG owners ;-(
week 5 and then week 10.....i read the communication from Struer to the dealer network.....but i'm with you in spirit, i'd be surprised if they stuck to these timeframes....
B&O may start to think about a kind of compensation....
they offered me a extra year of warranty....i have gone back saying this is not good enough, waiting fro a response......
You are right.... Extended warranty is not good enough.
My thought of half a year with a Horizon that has several essential bugs - like no communication with the Beoremote One BT every now and then - is simply not acceptable.

Considering that launch of the Horizon and the 14 initially was planned for spring 2016, they have had plenty of time for getting thing working.
After 3-4 years of NL, releasing a new BV without support for multiroom simply is a nogo!
Of course I can't tell, which trouble, you have had with your V1/BV11, but my V1 has worked pretty well all the time.
Certainly there were small things here and there - the SmartTV platform was useless, but that could be ignored - and the support for netradio even just arrived lately.
However, this can't be compared to the troubles with the Android-BV's.
Thanks, will have a think about my input requirements......if indeed i do switch to an Avant 55......
to be honest, struggling with the panel differences between the first and newer generation Avant 55s......first seems edge lit, which i am not keen on, and the NG seems directly lit.......my 14-55 is directly backlit, and while exellent for my main use (SKY HD), can struggle with dark scenes on some streamed Netflix and Amazon content.....maybe its just an LCD thing.....my 12-65 doesnt struggle nearly as much with the same content, and its colours are much richer than the 14-55, much as the brightness of the 14-55 is really nice......
anyway, will continue to ponder, and pine for an OLED......
I have the Avant (non NG) and I use Foxtel HD which is exactly the same product as Sky HD - even the same remote (not that I need to use it). The PQ is great especially on the HD channels. This Foxtel box doesn't have Netflix 4K so I use the Xbox for that.
Other differences with the newer one like the BV14 is that it has 2 wireless modules if I recall correctly from the video.
I would also think that the 12 doesn't struggle may also be due to the fact that the source and the panel are the same resolution 1080? Appreciate that many people also prefer the PQ of a plasma and the brightness of a LED.
Because clearly I have nothing better to do haha, I was looking up televisions last night and when I looked I think it is only the LG and the Philips which have OLED. When I looked up Samsung Australia's site they had no OLED (although I thought they did... maybe at a point).
I was this () close to purchasing a BV14 and now will wait (other expenses have popped up) - but am happy with the Avant. Have you considered a BV11-55? Or not going there because its not 4K? i.e. old tech...
