Ok thanks for letting us know the possible day(s)

Could Struer, then let us know the possible month or maybe even year this long running farce will come to an end.

For many I know this will be their last EVER B&O Tv.

Indeed, though in end, one would hope that the division of labour with LG should make the B&O TV a good prospect again, admittedly without B&O picture processing.....

Hello. I bought an horizon 40 last november and i returned it to the shop after a week. I was very disappointed with it. Other than all strange things you mentioned, picture was awful most of the time. black turned often blue, it was impossible to tune the right tint with the suited control. i shown the thing to a quite skeptical seller and he had to admit there were problems to solve. a firmware update issued the day after i brought home the naughty girl, didn't solve  anything. while tweaking with controls i accidentally entered the service mode where among other settings there was one named ambilight. i am sorry but i don t want to pay for a nice cabinet  and electronic designed and made by chinese manufacturers. the fact a beo television was not arbouring a genuinely made beo chassis upset me now like it did in the good old days of crt based televisions when there were few beovisions having modified chassis made by philips or thomson. after that i bought a beautiful beovision 11 and i am very satisfied. i only hope beo will continue to sell this model for a long long time

A few weeks ago our Horizon was switched for a brand new one. I must say that this one is much more stable than the previous one. The bass management bug appears every now and then but not as frequently as on the old Horizon. Connection problems with the remote are gone. Even the panel seems to give a better picture (is this just a thought - placebo - or did B&O also tweak hardware on the more recent Horizons)?

The software still has some bugs and glitches on our new Horizon (but much less and there have not been crashes recently, so there certainly must have been issues in the previous Horizon).

The picture (and processing of the picture) has improved a lot with the week 10 update. This was also noticable on the old Horizon. However, some side-effects are still there and also on our new Horizon (for instance the Beovision still has troubles with camera sweeps, but the side effects are less than in the previous software version). There are cheaper brands that do not have these side effects, so I hope that this issue will be solved with this weeks update.

I also experience some problems with the picture quality on my Horizon 48. People in motion sometimes have like a blur around their heads. Not sure if this is your experience also but never seen it on my V1 and had this problem years ago with my Philips HD ready panel. The hardware on the Horizon might be from Philips/TPVision, hope that B&O is able to finetune the picture quality!

Regarding other problems, software still too buggy, sometimes the TV reboots itself for no reason and I find the tv to respond too slow, especially direct after booting up. The update of this week should bring NL ability / Multiroom. Now I cannot connect the tv to my other NL products and not able to use the BL's on the tv with my Moment. Tick Tack, just a few day's to wait

has your dealer requested the update for you?

i didn't realise before, but that is what they need to do for you, so you will then have the update pushed to your TV....

No, B&O push out the update to your TV.......but your dealer should request it for you.......they should have done this automatically......dont know if it resolves all the remaining issues, guess we are all finding out over the next few weeks, bit too early to tell.......depends on what is most important to you, but from what i can see, there is still some work to do.....although sharing NL audio / Join function is nice to have now......

As said before: at this stage you have to contact your dealer. He passes your serial number through to B&O and subsequently the update will be transferred to your Beovision. I guess it wil take a few weeks before the update is automatically transferred to all the NG Beovisions.

Did you do the comparison Avant 2014 vs Avant NG ?

and if so what are your thoughts - should I go for NG 55?

briefly yes....a bit subjective picture quality wise....the older screens produce a softer image, and i dont mean that in a bad way....the newer screens seemed a bit more modern to me, a touch more aggressive in their image, and i slightly preferred it to the older.....

i couldn't test a variety of material to be honest, given what the dealer had connected.....the newer screens are globally dimmed, which in theory isnt great, but it looks great with a lot of broadcast HD feeds, especially sports.....4K looks pretty sharp too of course......where it is a little less convincing is with dark scenes.....though where it was struggling initially, since the recent updates, its performance in dark scenes is better.......this may just be an LCD limitation though (my main screen is a BV12-65 plasma, which is awesome), and i wasnt really able to compare with the Avant 2014....

anyway, best to look or yourself....they both have pro's, not quite familiar enough with the downsides of the Avant 2014, outside of the connections / ports, where the newer TVs have more fully enabled 4K ports, to the extent that matters will vary by user....

no worries......do spend some good time checking out the picture quality is what you like..as i say, these things are a bit personal, and some may prefer the slightly softer image of the previous screens........and the software, as you are probably aware, has been a bit buggy.....they seem to be addressing it, albeit not that quickly......but the Avant is a cool tv, the sound is super impressive on its own, whether or not you connect other B&O speakers to it........

Hi all,

Is there any new about software update for BV14/H ?

I'm still on the .115 software and some of you already uses .116 which solves speaker group issues. I still encounter problems using Multiroom setup. Although the TV is much more stable, it still feels there is a lot to improve. I hope B&O keeps determined to further develop this platform

After reading all this I am really apprehensive to go ahead with ordering a new Avant. Horrible experiences. After giving up with Spotify on the BS5 I don't feel like wasting nearly 8 grand on a TV that doesn't work either. I'm still using my BV5 and am in the market for a new TV. B&O are offering a good trade-in price for the BV5 but if it's worth the pain? Surprise.... Are there any positive user experiences out there? I'm a Loyal B&O fan through and through and can't believe what I'm reading here!

I am okay with how my BVH40 is improving with every update. I am on 115 update and things have improved significantly from when i bought it last year in august.

Since the last update I can join my beosound 1's and now i can have multiroom music. It is not yet the experience I expected for example I have Google stuff (Home, Wifi, Watch, Pixels etc) and the BV cannot join using google cast. You need to use the remote one. I cannot create a chromecast group including the BVH. But multiroom works the way B&O intended I guess.

They only that doesnt work smoothly yet is Netflix (the Netherlands). Sometimes it does sometimes it doesnt. The trick I use it to start from my Pixel and cast it to the BVH. Works for me but wife who is not so techy doesnt like it :-).

good luck on your choice.

From what I know... Netflix on the BeoVision 14/Horizon is gonna happen. Conflict between B&O and Netflix (something about a dedicated Netflix button and so on...)... and Netflix will not authorise the B&O platform to have Netflix onboard.. So sometimes it works.. and sometimes it doesn't...

Some criteria that Netflix is using: https://devices.netflix.com/en/recommendedtv/2017/

(and probably... but that is a wild guess... B&O needs to pay Netflix to have the app onboard..)

Karel.

i'd be surprised if it does reappear soon(properly at least).....while the BV14 appears to meet Netflix's criteria on the surface, Nefiix are being increasingly firm in their dealings with hardware makers.....they excluded it from the new Vizio's i think, and even the new Oppo 4K Bluray player.....but who knows with these things, these situations tend to evolve over time.....the insistence on a dedicated Netflix remote button seems stupid to me......
