Hi all! I recently bought a nice Beocenter 9000 (€140 including Beovox speakers), but it turns out there is no sound from the left channel if I hook the speakers up to 'Speakerset 1'.

If I use 'Speakerset 2', everything works fine, but I can't, for instance, mute the sound with the remote (since speakerset 2 should be in another room, if I understood correctly). Balance is okay, I checked.

Does anyone have any thoughts about what could be wrong and if it is fixable? Thanks!

Thank you!

Ah yes, dat would solve the muting issue, but really that's not what I am that concerned with. There has to be something wrong with the device.

I have the option to return it to the original seller (bought through an auction) and get my money back, but I am a bit hesitant. I really like the Beocenter 9000, but I also would like to have the option to sell if someday for a fair price. This problem with the left channel would influence the market price of the Beocenter I suppose, so I think I may have overpaid already. So, I'd rather find a way to get it fixed, or maybe just return it. Know what I mean?

No. The other way around.
A new relay will solve the dead channel in speaker 1.
A sure diagnose is if the dead channel comes alive if the volume is turned up a bit
(But it will fail again at lower volume and/or next time you turn the Beocenter on).

The muting is as it should be.
Speakers 1 are muted locally (on the Beocenter or using a remote in the same room).
Speakers 2 cannot be muted locally. They are permanently on out of the Beocenter - meant to be distributed on to other rooms in
which the local link boxes can mute their respective speakers (on the link eye or using a remote in that room).

Try cleaning your speaker jacks too.

Last week I replaced the muting relay on my Beocenter 9000 because both the Right and Left channels in speaker 1 didn't work. Still didn't work after replacing the relay. Frustrated, I sprayed deoxit into the jacks and worked the plugs in and out. Works great now.

Marin, you are absolutely right, thank you very much. I turned up the volume and sure enough the left channel kicks in :-)

I will look into how to change the relay for a permanent fix!
