Can I use BR1 for Essence and Avant

I have in one room:

      A Beovision Avant55 with a BeoRemoteOne

      A Beosound Essence2 with Beolab 5 connected.

The Essence is NOT integrated with the Avant because then I cannot use Spotify.

Now I would like to be able to control the volume etc of the Essence also via the BR1. Is this possible? Should I then connect an IR eye to the Essence?

How do I then switch on the BR1 between controlling the Avant or controlling the Essence?
