Hi all,
I recently got a Beogram 9000. Sounds great but I've had a few problems.
For some reason it takes a while to adjust to the right speed after dropping the needle on a record. Is there any way to fix this? The belt hasn't been changed since it was bought in the 80s.
Secondly, I'm getting distortion in loud passages. It doesn't occur with brand new vinyl but even then they sound "hot" - as if someone has pushed the gain too high. The transport screws are very loose but not as loose as they absolutely can be. The tracking force of the SMMC4 - 1.3g - has been confirmed with a tracking gauge. Any ideas?
Here's my setup:
Beogram 9000 (with Soundsmith MMC4 - or SMMC4 with maybe 5-6 hours use)
Sounds Heavenly B&O Preamp (Hyperwire MD-001)
Schiit Magni 2 Headphone Amplifier
Thanks in advance!
Bump
I had the belts replaced in my Beogram 7000 and the speed picks up fine now.
I am also experiencing some distortion. Several threads here suggests to increase the weight even more ... ?
I will test this next weekend.
Office: Beomaster 3000-2 with Beovox P45 (all in white)
Living room: Beomaster 7000 and Beogram 7000 with Beovox RL 7000 (all in white)
Kitchen: Beocenter 2300 with Beovox 4500 (not available in white :-(
Thanks for the info on belt. Let me know about distortion issue. It's strange because my cartridge has little wear - maybe it's damaged.
