BS1 v 2 and A9 - interesting

I just got a BeoSound 1 yesterday to replace my BeoLab 2000 in the kitchen. While I found the sound of the BeoSound 2 more impressive, my dealer talked me out of the BeoSound 2, pointing out that the BeoSound 1 would be more suited for the kitchen. Also, the BeoSound 2 would have only given me a clearance of 1.5 inches below the kitchen cabinets for access to the top of the unit for control.

At the same time, I got an Essence Wall Remote. It pairs easily with the BeoSound 1 and provides full control.

What do you think of it now it's at home?

I find the design, size, and sound to be perfect for a modern kitchen. The larger BeoSound 2 would have looked out of place due to its size and would have been inappropriate for the acoustics. However, I was quite ready and willing to pay my dealer the slightly higher price until he talked me out of it.

This is my first NL device in a home that has been totally equipped with ML in every room. I must say that accepting NL for me is creating some growing pains. I can't quite accept the move away from IR remotes. I'm so accustomed to the one-remote world of B&O IR remotes and the control of pulling up specific sources on the remote. I don't like the need to open my phone or tablet for control. I DO like that the BeoMusic app offers my BeoMaster 5 library as a source for the BeoSound 1. However, the X app does not yet offer this. My BLGW immediately recognized the new BeoSound 1 and added it to my BLGW setup. However, the BLGW was not able to auto-detect any sources from the BeoSound 1. I'm wondering if other people encountered this with their BLGW or if perhaps I'm doing something wrong. I was impressed that when I voiced the Amazon Echo command "Alexa, trigger standby" that the BeoSound 1 was automatically included in the standby command.

I must admit that I still have not been able to disconnect my BeoLab 2000 from the ML. I just can't bring myself to do it yet!

I agree. The BeoSound 1 for me is the ideal device for moving around, putting on a table top, using to stream music when working and so on. The BeoSound 2 needs to be connected to power, so limits where you can store the speaker.

But, I did receive a BeoLit 15 last week for a speaker roundup and I'll add that it's very impressive. Maybe the bass on the BeoLit 15 is better than the BeoSound 1...which is twice the price. I was pleasantly surprised by the BeoLit performance.

What you want me to do is a speaker roundup, right? How about:

P2 v A1 v A2 v BeoLit 15 v BeoSound 1 (maybe, I don't think that's portable enough to be included in this roundup)

Agree, the Beolit 15 is very good. It's my garden/BBQ speaker, it always gets compliments! It's a proper little boom box (in a good way). For that reason I won't be adding a BS1 to my collection.....not any time soon anyway .

That comparison will be good for those that can't get to check them out in person - having heard them all, they are all good and what you would expect from B&O (play) for the respective price point....in my opinion anyway - and you do get good value for each of the Play products.

I guess I am lucky living a few miles from a dealer, I even got to hear the lab90's in the Bournemouth store the other day - wow.....just wow!!!
