Hello everybody,
I personnaly find most computer backpacks ugly, especially mines. It s a pity that B&O has never tried to make a nice, practical classy but understated bag for the frequent traveller.
Do you have any idea for a nice computer bag that would be made in the spirit of B&O?
How would that look like, which features? Would it have wheels?
Be seing you
François
Francois1er: How would that look like, which features? Would it have wheels?
Anything without the B&O logo emblazoned on the side. Couldn't think of anything more tacky, to be honest. I'm not one for displaying any brand so obviously.
As B&O neither make backpacks nor computers, isn't speculation on this just daft? Next we'll be discussing sitting on a B&O-designed sofa.
Hello Moxxey,
I agree with you regarding the logo.
As for this speculation being "daft", I suppose this is the common traits of any speculation which does not meet one's interest, isn't it?
Actually, there is a sofa designed by B&O.
Be seeing you
Yes! Paul Smith make some wonderful ones for both the 13" and 15" MacBooks as do indeed Mulberry!!! My MacBook fits inside my Daler Rowney Portfolio beautifully. I do like the Paul Smith bags and sleeves!
On a different note, I bought a black leather case from Dolce&Gabbana to put my iPhone in whenever i'm not using it and it's incredibly elegant, beautifully made and very very classy!!!
funny enough i have just purchased a B and O laptop bag, that is it's B and O to me, i am in the process of obtaining my beosystem 4500 from graham at beo4life, but because i am retired in Thailand i am having to rely on visiting friends to bring items over for me when they visit, looking at the dimensions of the beocord and beogram cd i thought they are about the size of a large laptop, so if i purchased a 19 inch laptop bag they should fit, anyway the beocord arrived in south wales last week so i looked for a large enough laptop bag on ebay, found one, purchased it, it arrived the other day and my mate says the beocord fits in a treat, how about that
B and O laptop bag 4.99, waiting for the beogram cd4500 to arrive to repeat the process, now looking at increasing my collection based on size and weight, mmmm beosound 1 maybe?

I think we may have a difference of opinion!
Ban boring signatures!

That wouldn't be for the first time, Puncher :)
D&G products used to be classy, before they went all gold and blingy. You can still pick up the odd classy v-neck, shirt or similar, but you have to visit the Bond Street boutique for these. I moved on from D&G a long time ago.
If you want class - proper class - stick with Brioni and Loro Piana.
I like the overall shape of the Paul Smith. The Daler Rowney is out of question fro me, I am a cost consultant and have to look serious (read boring)
I fond the following to be quite minimalistic, but yet not B&O spirited:

My B&O bag is a cheap second hand black back pack I bought in London ... so why do I call it my B&O bag ?
'cause usually it contains B&O manuals and print-outs from BeoTech, a bunch of power adapters, RCA cables and jack plugs - splitters - combiners, a SCART cable, a TOS cable, an HDMI/DVI cable, and so on ... which I use when I visit people to help them out with their HiFi or B&O set-ups.
And as the Struer gang know, I used it in Europe to carry my iPad and my MacBook ... the advantage of it being non-flash is that I have never been mugged or hassled despite carry kit worth thousands despite where ever I go.
BeoNut since '75
nice one elephant, keeping a low profile

I don't mind folk buying designer shirts etc. if that's what floats their boat, after all it's their money, they can even set fire to it if they want and I won't intervene (I might suggest giving it to charity would be better but - hey ho whatever).
It's when they never just refer to it as a shirt but rather a X&X shirt or whoever - it always smacks to me of trying too hard! The people who "wear it well" are the ones who don't see it as a topic of conversation and don't feel the need to talk about it.
I think that there is a rather HUGE age difference on this site on this site. Of course really old people 70+ are not going to have the same opinions as guys in their 20s/early 30s!
Interesting topic - we are all of course buyng a designer brand of AV equipment . Not sure age has a lot to do with things - on the whole, most people here will buy B&O and other brands for a particular reason. I always bought B&O because it was well made, easy to use and looked beautiful. I apply the same desires to most other products I buy when it is sensible. I also look for value though, so will not buy something simply because it has a flash logo on it.
I am pleased that I am not considered 'really old' - perhaps mature might be a better description!

I keep my laptop in a scruffy well worn bag for general duties - so that way one of them wrong 'uns will think it's got worthless contents - just a paper file or something and not try and grab it (shows the areas I go to....) but if I want to travel smart-but-casual I use a Crumpler
Good luck finding it...
There was a B&o laptop bag already.
As I recall, it was a rebranded Victorinox bag in the promo vein.

Well, I'll have you know that my *B&G Muumuu has "NO STEP" strategically printed in places. Is that "trying too hard?"

Well when you are a bit nearer the former than the latter you will find out the truth:

I have this one:

BTW, I have been searching and searching for the aforementioned "promo" bag.
No luck yet (not that it was all that exciting).
++++EDIT++++
I FOUND IT!!!
My mistake, it was by Wenger -the Victorinox distant cousin.
Pics...
ɓʋɾɑɳɫɘɮ:by Wenger -the Victorinox distant cousin
tasteful !
I have a Mercedes Benz leather jacket - the only external brand indication is one small metal dot (can't really call it a button) that has their 3-star logo on it.
As for the recommended thread ... I see it had a Serene and that TripEnglish is a regular contributor
Computer bag or case, it has to be lighter than your computer, if you want to carry it through several airports, ground transportation or always with you.
A brand mark is of course essential to show off.
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Søren Mexico: Computer bag or case, it has to be lighter than your computer, if you want to carry it through several airports, ground transportation or always with you. A brand mark is of course essential to show off.
The Filson bag $275 or about the same in £ after duty and VAT at very few British outlets, has all the qualities of B&O.
It's exorbitantly expensive for what it is. It's heavier than the computer it's meant to carry. (One was recently sold one eBay because the seller said it was too heavy for everyday use!) It has a great following of fans. On the company's own website there are lot of reviews including very negative ones that have not stopped people being fans. (Until recently the pockets in the computer briefcase were open at the bottom and let all the content drop through.)
And there are suggestions of outsourcing products to China.
Brands with fans (maybe from a past era) can get away with almost anything.
vikinger:Brands with fans..................
...........hits the issue squarely on the head - I just don't understand the concept at all. I can understand being a fan of a particular product (hopefully warranted) but not the leap of faith/fanaticism that then leads to the belief that all other past, present and future products of the same brand are of equal merit and should be defended to the death (or queued for overnight as if they are some sort of limited edition collectable).
There is something seriously wrong when the brand is more important than the product!

Don't make this an 'age-issue'...It's not like everybody in the 20s/early 30's agree with you... (Not because i'm in that age...But I know quite a few people in that age with better taste). And I'm not one of the 'really old' ones (a bit patronizing -isn't it..?) either...

Agree with Moxxey, next thing is underwear with B&O logo, on the back side in stereo, and Steffen is only replying, like me, because there is nothing else on the forum, Cheers and have a good weekend
