Hi, Guys

I am new to this forum with the hope to figure out what I want to get for my apartment.Smile

I have a small room setting and I usually not listen to very loud volume.

I listen to classical music, acoustic or some original sound track and sometimes pop music. I want to have a crispy acoustic sound as well as clear bass.

So here I am in a struggling situation between Beosound 2 and Beoplay A9. As the sale person said, A9 is much better than BS2. But somehow I couldn't tell much more difference between these two.

Can you give me some advice?

If you can't hear a difference borrow the BS1 for a weekend and if you like it keep it !

I think of you couldn't tell much difference between the two then I would choose the a9 if it is your only system that you will use.

You have different placement options.

However if size is an issue you'd be happy with a BS2.

Which did you prefer the look of ?

Hello!

I was in a similar situation, and really wanted to fall in love with the Beosound 2 - though after a listen it really underwhelmed me. I found it couldn't handle sudden bass at a decent volume level, and would lower the volume dramatically. This really killed the demo song I was using and instantly put me off this unit unfortunately. I listened to the A6, BS2 and the A9, and actually went for the A9 in the end. The A9 demo unit was set to the 'freestanding' mode and was quite bass heavy, though when switching to the 'corner' setting it sounded very clear and pulled the trigger :)

As an aside, I was very impressed by the A6 - even as much to say it sounded better than the BS2.

Disclaimer: I listen to alternative rock music.

That's interesting to hear as I was going to get the A6 and the good things I've heard about the BS2 has made me re-consider. The other advantage is, the BS2 can be moved around more easily.

The A9 is amazing - I use mine all the time. But, it's huge and can't be moved easily, so not ideal. I was hoping the BS2 would be better suited for moving around between rooms (although, strictly speaking, it's not a portable unit).

Obviously take a listen to them both, but I wasn't even considering the A6 until I thought I might as well when in the store. I was briefly tempted to get two A6s for cheaper than the A9 and run them in different rooms! But alas, the A9 won.

I think the little bit of stereo separation you get from the A6 / A9 when close is very rewarding - assuming your room etc suits this placement.

Yep, agree - if space/size isn't a problem then A9 every time. Good choice.

But it's all about what it's for and where it's to be used. I have an A6 and it is great, I just love the design of the BS2 and for my use, the sound quality of BS2 was just right - for a multi room speaker mainly lower listening levels in a kitchen diner. I do like a bit of base (electronic music) though!!

Is it worth me changing, probably not - but I probably will Wink

I was looking for BS2, but yesterday I found a good deal of Beolab 8000, now struggling again ! I guess Beolab 8000 is totally a different thing from Beosound, right ?

Totally different , yes.

If you don´t know the difference I recommend some googling.

Beolab 8000 : Active speakers that require a source.

BS2: Speaker (mono) with builtin sources.

I listened to it again yesterday in my local store. It's very impressive sound wise and looks fantastic. You shouldn't be disappointed.

You are a lucky guy, then.

Recently heard the they are delayed - and won't reach the shops/the costumers untill early next year.

The are desperately trying to produce more BS1/2 'alu-bodies' in Struer right now - seems that both have become popular products.

I was in the Munich B&O store yesterday - a great store - and the guy laughed when I asked about BeoSound 2 availability. He claimed their system is now saying "end of January" for delivery, if ordered now.

I really don't hope this is right.. How is it that B&O have these delivery problems every year up until christmas? Come on guys, this is the time of the year you should make the money in gifts laying under the christmas tree ..Crying

Year after year after year... for as long as I can remember B&O is launching products in the October/November timeframe unable to deliver them is good enough quantities for the Christmass holidays.. this is no surprise anymore!

I ordered at the authorized dealer store, not from the BO store here. Yes, most of stores said they will get BS2 around late Dec to Jan.
