I have just acquired a Bombaster 2400 (not the II). I can turn it on. Most of the lights work. It does play from the FM radio and a Beogram 3400 at low volume, but the volume is not adjustable. The touch pad works well for switching from function to function (between the FM channels or to the phono etc.) They react instantly and accurately. The lights on the volume portion ( the < and the >) light up well, but I can place my finger all over the volume portion of the board and the sound remains the same, very low.
Most likely culprits? As I understand it, this is not due to mechanical failure so this is not an issue of cleaning contacts (sadly), but is more likely due to some electronic component failure that in the forest of caps and diodes and resistors is nearly impossible to find.
Help.
Welcome to Beoworld !
Most of these Beomasters will be in need of a thorough restoration by now, rather than discrete and simple repairs.Capacitors kits, lamps kits, tonecontrol sliders repair kits are all available. And if it is otherwise and optically in good condition, it's worth it.

I have taken the Beomaster 2400 covers off. Then i plugged it in and using a pair of headphones I can hear the FM radio playing, but at low volume. As stated above, I can switch between the channels and functions (phono and tape) by touching the pins that the copper "springs" usually touch. BUT the pins that control the volume up and down are completely unresponsive. I went through the board on which the volume (up and down) pins reside and reflowed a number of the soldering points, though seeing none that were obviously flawed.
The sliders work well and responsively asI've used some Fadbrlube on them. .
Any suggestions beside replacing ALL the caps on the Beomaster? How much does a "capacitor kit" cost?
