Hi All,
I finally got round to wiring up my Beolab 3, over the weekend they all worked perfectly (I have 4 of them linked to a V1), last night I noticed that one would not turn on. I took it down and tried a different powerlead and I do not get any light coming on.
They have been in storage for over a year while we had work done on the house and they worked for 3 days before this happened.
Any ideas what I can check.
Thanks
Toby
Hi Toby,
If the speaker isn't showing a power light, then it has no mains power. Please check that the power lead is fitted tightly into the speaker socket (it can be tricky to fit into the tight space behind the Beolab 3) and that the power socket on the wall is actually working (ie. plug in a table lamp to test it). If the table lamp works but not the speaker, the most likely cause is a blown fuse in the plug (if you live in a country with fused plugs, eg. Britain).
Speaker faults are far less common, so it is best to resolve the more likely causes first!
Kind regards, Steve.
Steve.

Thanks for your reply Steve, I have tried 5 different power cables just to be sure. and had tried the plug socket and that powers on other speakers and lamps.
Any one any ideas?
Sounds likely to be a speaker problem, worth getting this checked by a B&O repairer. The speaker should always show a light (red or green) if it is receiving mains power.
Just for an update, the BL3 went to the speaker doctor and after testing needed a complete new chasse. This was replaced and all working (an expensive repair just before Christmas).
Good to read your BL3 is alive and kicking again. I hope extra holiday times will make you enjoy music and movies to give you goose bumps and forget these expenses during this month.
May I ask you how expensive this repair is?
What year since starting use is this BL3 (age) and what is the type nr.?
Regards, Robert
It was some where around the £500 mark, which was for the part, labour and the VAT. (not sure on exact price as brought some other bits as well)
Not sure on the age as I got them from a second life dealer, then they went into storage for about a year while I was building the extension and then where working for a few days before they went.
They are the Mark 1 ones.
