What would you do?

Thanks for your input!

hello,

compares to your bv 7 40 mk3, the pq of'the mk2 is really very very low.

I had a bv 5 hd ready and I found it better than any lcd of its time and even long years after its creation.

its sound is as good as the old avant.

very heavy and need a lot of place but beautifull tv and bearable pq.

4 beolab 5,  beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2,  2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...

I owned the BV7-II upgrading to the BV-III and then the BV9. I disagree that the picture quality on the BV7-II was "really very very low." Actually I recall being very impressed at the time of how good the quality was. The Mark II also came HD ready (DVI) as standard; you had to buy a module for the Mark I. Both standard definition and high definition were really very good for the time.

Personally, I would make your decision based on which tv you prefer the look of aesthetically. For me it was always the BV5 but I wasn't prepared to pay full price for it at the time, which is why I chose the BV7 route. In my opinion you will be happy with whichever set you choose. Best of luck and try to source one with as little use as possible (check the counters) as both are considerably old now but that doesn't mean they are a bad buy. In many ways they represent a very good buy if you can find one with little use. All the best and enjoy your new purchase, Simon.

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.
11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

Thanks to both of you for your nice input.

Since I already own a Beovision 7-40 (MK III), we will be looking for a Beovision 5.
I like the design and it will only be used max. once  a week.

Has to be the latest version with DVI (HD ready) for a very good price.... ;.))
And close to our place since it is not the ideal TV to transport.

I used to have a Beoision 7-40 MK II before the MK III and the improvement in a) picture and b) connections made a complete different TV.
But this (a)) has to do a lot with the available LCD technique back in those days.
I am sure Plasma will be much better if TV are some age. Made this experience with Beovision 4-42/4-50 (HD ready).

Thanks again!

Ralf
