hello
I have proceed this sunday to the installation of a bv 7 55 mk2 in replacement of my bv 7 40 mk6.
i have been helped by a very nice guy named eddie that you know on this forum as valve1.
he spent nearly 2 hours helping me to hang on the wall this elephant (stb bracket).
few days before I picked up a beovision 11 46.
The picture quality of the bv 7 55 is stunning. what is stunning too is that we don't really need to touch any picture setting. just used the game mode but it wasn't really necessary.
for the beovision 11 it is too much complicated.
I followed the advices of KMA in his review. thanks a lot.
Ok I am not against more detailed menu and more precised modifications depending of the needs but bang olufsen should really spend more time to calibrate the pictures of the new models.
I have seen some beovision avant in the show room of the dealer wherz I picked up the 7 55 and the pictures were awfull.
I don't regret my choice, 2 different tv with both drawbacks and advantages but if I had to choose between them, I would choose the 7 55 mk2.
4 beolab 5, beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2, 2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
I've met Eddie (valve1) and can confirm he's an absolutely lovely chap! Very kind of him to help you.
I absolutely love the 7-55 Mk2. I was testing one at the weekend and still couldn't believe the picture quality for what's now considered an 'old' TV.
With regards to the 12-65 comment - I replaced a 7-55 Mk2 with a 12-65 NG (on a Motor Floor Stand) in my own home and although the image quality isn't quite the same it's still superb.
Should anyone be interested, I'll actually be selling my 12-65 NG in the next 3-4 weeks as I've got an Avant 75 coming to live in my lounge..

hi chris,
I read all your post about this 7 55, I know that you don't regret your purchase. I understand why now.
the bv 11 46 will be for a bedroom and all its feature (hard disk, dvbs, good speakers built in...) is excellent for this kind of room.
I have seen the beovision 12 in action but was not convinced by the picture quality. maybe the source was bad (iron man 1 if I quite remenber).
I don't like its look neither.
the bl7.6 is good but too big on the wall. I prefer the bl 10 and my pair of bl5.
I had a pair of bl 5000 on each side of the bv 7 40 mk6 but I had to remove them because the 7 55 fills all the space between them.
they will go at the back.
I think now my hunt is finished for some years. As It won't be possible in my area to have 4k streaming and as I have also a beamer and a bigger screen. I think I won't choose any of the actual tvs in the near future even at bargain price.
hi lee,
The guy who owned my 7 55 replaced it with an avant 85 and used it only 88 days since 2012/2013.
I would be surprised if the picture quality on such wide screen is as good as a 55 for usual tv programs. I am already disappointed when I see them on a 55 avant.
the 7.55 can't be considered as old because of its led zones. Very few tv are actually able to display such a good and uniform picture. The oled can do better but with some drawbacks.
I have personnally choosen the beamer way for the cinema experience.
I bought a sony vpl hw 40 and it rocks on a 104 screen. the 4k beamers are still too expensive but prices will fall.
When we will find tv screen in the cinemas I will throw my beamer into the bin.
Hi chris,
As my tv is on the wall and I can't find the right picture of the back of a mk2 (on the online manual it is the connections for a mk1 and they are differents),
could you please take a picture of yours.
I don't have the back plastic part where the connections are written. If you have them It would be easier to take a picture.
THANKS in advance
