Hi All,

After lusting for B&O equipment for years, finally jumped in the deep end and from owning zero, recently got hold of a 7700 Beosystem, 8500 Beocenter and 8000 Beocord.

Specifically asking for some advice on the 8500..everything works, no scratches just a nick on the glass panel under the cd side which isn't really visible so all good. Came with P30 speakers so ok I guess but felt wanted to get a more serious sound. Aquired a couple of 3800 speakers which decided to have as an interesting background to their development. Blinded by this, missed noticing the impedence of 4ohms compared to amp which is listed as 8ohms and the P30s as 4-8ohms.

Apologies if any technical terms not quite right, am not very electrical or savvy with setting up music systems apart from the basics (relative! :/)..

So my question, before plugging all the wires in and punching the self destruct button is whether these speakers can work in combo as a 4 speaker set up on this unit.

If not recommended, then not a disaster as building up the 8000 system and can fit together with this which is rated at 4ohms.

Thanks for any suggestions and apologies for what may be for many a rather silly question..

Regards

Andrzej

Hi Andrzej,

Welcome to Beoworld!

Please don't worry, you can use any Beovox speakers with the Beocenter without any problems.  The quoted impedance on the amplifier and speakers is only really a guide, in practice the impedance of each speaker varies greatly at different frequencies.  The quoted figure is usually a DC resistance rather than a true in-service impedance so you won't have any problems using speakers quoted at 4 Ohms or 8 Ohms DC with your Beocenter.

You can use any passive Beovox or Active Beolab speakers with your Beocenter - if you need any help with cables or connections, please feel free to ask!

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

Hi Steve,

Thanks very much for advising..really happy to hear that.

Will need to extend 3 cables as having speakers almost in all 4 corners of the room. Have similar thickness speaker cable so initially just after 3 2pin din male + female screw plugs. Maplin never seem to have any in the store that pass by :/

At some stage will look to have the 7700 serviced, so will come back re at a later date.

Regards

Hi Andrzej,

No problem, I also stock the 2 pin plugs and sockets: http://soundsheavenly.com/38-beovox-passive-unpowered-loudspeakers

I'm sorry I don't offer servicing or repairs, only cables!

Kind regards, Steve.
