Hi,
I have a Beolab 2000 recently bought on eBay. Does anyone know if, by using a Beolink passive amplifier such as this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/172415179085?lpid=122&chn=ps&adgroupid=13585920426&rlsatarget=pla-75952154106&adtype=pla&poi=&googleloc=1007321&device=c&campaignid=207297426&crdt=0 if I can then get the Beolab 2000 to take an aux connection through that unit?
The Beolab 2000 works perfectly when connected via mastelink but I don't want to have to run cables to another room in order to make use of it.
Many thanks.
You just need to connect it to one of these by ML, and then run the aux into the converter: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bang-Olufsen-Beolink-Converter/152326926895?_trksid=p2141725.c100338.m3726&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20150313114020%26meid%3D6bccaa4cb9aa4636a6f0c1ac187f1547%26pid%3D100338%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D172415179085

Hi, Thanks for your help. Thats really helpful. Once I have the converter purchased, I'll be able to use a bluetooth adaptor connected to the aux input and stream music from my phone. bye, John
Hi, Thanks for your help. I have the cables here, just need to source the master link adaptor and I'll be sorted. Bye John
Well done, Steve

There is a tv - and there is a BV

I'd probably nowadys use a ChromeCast Audio dongle ;-)
(The more expensive and sophisticated version would be to use the Essence-box set to fixed line-out).
But - as you wrote - anything works as long as it has an analog audio-out.
@Steve
Are you - perhaps - working on a similar solution for the BL3500.
Would be much easier for most people than doing the "MENU MENU 04 GO" dance each time you want to use it ;-)
Hi MM,
That is a good idea. I will see whether the 3500 can be set up in the same way to accept volume control commands and to activate directly from the CD source button. At the moment, a direct input cable to the 3500 is possible, but needs the music source to have its own volume control (http://soundsheavenly.com/airport-express/155-ipodtvairport-express-to-beolab-3500-mk2-cable.html?search_query=3500&results=2).
I will keep you updated!
I guess that there would be more interest in having the BS3500 work that way.
A lot of people sees that as more 'genuine B&O' than the 2000....
....which might increase your sales of cables ;-))
And there are a lot (often unused) 3500's out there nowadays.

Hi Steve, I cant find this product on your website anymore. Please send a new link if it is still available. Thanks
I am sorry but this cable will not be back in stock again as I can no longer obtain the parts.
Hi Steve,
I have recently joined the forum and have a Beolab 2000 which I would like to use with a standalone music speaker player with either an iPod/iPhone using a 3.5mm male audio jack.
Can you provide more details to the solution above and a link to the cable mentioned as the link above now does not work
Appreciate your help, Peter
Hi Peter,
Sorry but this cable is no longer available, as the parts are not available. I have updated my previous comments on this thread to avoid any misunderstanding. I am sorry but the only alternative that I am aware of to use this speaker without a B&O main system would be to connect the Beolab 2000 to a Beolink Converter type 11661166 with a Masterlink cable, then connect the music source to the Beolink Converter.
For a long time I am following your quality technical solutions and I have the following question.
I have a Beolab 2000 and also have a Beolink Converter type 1166.
Can you please advise what cables I need to connect the below Audioengine B1 Bluetooth receiver?
(The Pictures below show the available connections of the device)
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00MHTGZR4?psc=1&th=1&ascsubtag=4138227|n4886a86cf8694a519f570cf7ada9e6a415&linkCode=gs2&tag=dotdash21-21
Thank you in advance.
Spiros.
Hi Spiros,
Thanks for your enquiry, please use this cable from the B1 to the Aux input of the 1611 converter:-
https://soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/52-72-stereo-rca-twin-phono-to-beosound-aux-input-din-socket.html#/2-length-1m
You then need a Masterlink cable from the converter to the Beolab 2000 speaker. I should have some of these cables arriving in the next week or so, please feel free to get in touch via my sponsor link at the foot of this page if you would like me to update you when these cables are available.
Hi Steve, regarding the masterlink to mini jack cable for the beolab 2000, you say the parts are not available. What parts make up the cable ? I think you used to sell them, did the cable not work for the 2000?
best wishes,
Ken
Hi Ken,
Sorry I won't be making these cables any more, as I'm not happy with the results that they give. Some years ago, I used a specially adapted audio cable to try to give a good connection via the Masterlink plug, but these are now out of production and the other cables I have tried don't work well.
I am sorry but I won't consider offering an unreliable or poor quality solution. I recommend forgetting about this option completely and using a Beolink Converter type 1161166 for a reliable alternative.
Thanks for the quick reply, the reason I ask is that I have found a site that claims to have your old cables in stock ?
best wishes
I would be very surprised at that, as I haven't sold them for quite a number of years now!

I have sold these cables to them several years ago, but I am very surprised if they still have these cables in stock...
You can still place an order on the site. I have an old beolab 2000 and wanted a cheap solution so that I could use a audiocast S as a stand alone speaker in the garage. I think the question is, did the cable work ? or should I just thoughthe beolab 2000 out.
Sorry I can't comment on this. I doubt that the company still has any of the cables that I sent to them several years ago. Sorry I can't help further with this.
Thanks for your help
Hello, sorry to see that some information seems not to be found any more which i found about 3 years ago (? maybe I am wrong…)
There I did use the BL2000 for some weeks instead BL7 while I had to have a look for a new one. I remember it was able to activate the BL 2000 without ML and feed it with line in input by (1) configuring the BL2000 in some way and(2) activating with Beo4 in a distinct way. However, this information seems to be deleted? can anybody help me, how to activate BL 2000 without ML input or w/o the converter?
many thanks! Chris
Dear all,
first, sorry for the double post, I cannot delete /edit any more. beeing a forum member since almost 15 ys - I believe so ;-) - these are my first posts.
second, I just found the solution. The BL 2000 settings were changed after having it running in a REAL ML setup.
Here

I found how to change, additionally with Option 6 hint by Steve.
Great! This is a nice and very good forum :-)
best, Chris
