Other retailers' B&O point of sale

I have 3 photos from a local department store in one of the Westfield shopping towns that dot Australia, the U.K. And I believe the USA.

Philippe's Beoworld iApp seems not to handle iPhone 7 Plus photos (or maybe it's Beoworld's backend) so they probably won't load.

Basically Beoplay's display was not too bad.

But Sonos' was 2X bigger.

And Bose's 7X.

And they were collocated within a metre of one another.

Well whatever iPhone 7 photo problems I have had for the past few weeks have disappeared.

What do you think (rate) if the 3 different layouts ?

I think I prefer Sonos' black and red

I guess that Sonos and Bose has a LOT more money to spend on this kind of display/layout.

Glad the photos are working now - no idea why !

The BeoPlay wasn't too bad close up.

However it won't divert passing eyeballs nor feet.

And all vendors were at a disadvantage of being tucked away in the far corner of the electrical section of the two floor store.

The other vendors splash the cash on visual displays, including LCD TV's not for sale, but for point of sale 

 

ive never been a fan of the play setup in b&o and other stores, it's boring with the blocks of concrete and the teak wood panel. It needs some action and colour to draw people in..

 

the displays at Harvey Norman, Myer and David Jones are basic, I would be interested to see what approach JB Hifi take now they are stocking these..

You have to pay for these in-house displays and they aren't cheap! I'm sure B&O has tried to balance the revenue against the size of their display area.

The sonos display is only twice the size, I can't imagine the costs are that much more, the Sonos display doesn't have a big range either, just a few speakers and 2 subs the same.

 

it would not be hard for b&o to design a display with a headphone testing zone and the A9, A6, S3, BL15, A1, A2 & S8 system too.. full interaction with it all. Around 13 products all up is quite a lot and with high GP, they need to do more merchandising to sell the product

As promised I popped in.

Over the years JB has mutated a lot and the local outlet has doubled in size.

Gone are the days of it being a CD barn ... lofi store ... mobile phone promotions ... PCs ... until today when it stocks white goods kitchenware and "oh yes way down the back we have Sonos"

When I waded past the flat packs of flat TV Christmas specials I was shocked to find this display area.

There was no B&O nor Beoplay but I found floor to ceiling sound bars from everyone under the sun ... and even a QUAD !!!!! Bluetooth enabled player with optical inputs other AUXs and KEF and wharfdale speakers ! And QUAD was not cheap - yet it was sandwiched with lofi. And most of it "multiroom".

This experience more than all our discussions here shocked me and drove home the enormous challenge B&O has.

Yeah I head to JB a fair bit and seen those type of displays.. I guess B&O will be rolled out over time, or left to the bigger stores.
