Hello,
the way I see it, some of the newer B&O devices have received software updates, and some have finally a wake-up function (like for example the new Beosound 1). Now I am thinking: how can I use my v1 in the bedroom to wake up in the morning? It does not seem like the v1 will ever get a wake-up function.
Does the Essence MK2 have a wake-up function? If so, would it be possible to connect the Essence with the v1, schedule a wake-up through the Beomusic app, and have the Essence automatically start the v1? Maybe someone who has an updated essence can try that out on a B&O TV :)))

Yes, that would work, since the V1 in that case is used as the speaker/s for the Essence.
But it is no everyday-solution, when the Essence normally has the speakers connected directly (or is line-out to an A.Aux).
For a working solution, you would have to have the opportunity of selecting the V1 in the menu/Beomusic,
or the V1 itself should have a built-in timer function.
One may still hope that they - some day - would add the timer function to the tv itself ;-)

There is a tv - and there is a BV
You are exactly right of course. Not a good solution. But does work.
Sounds like a good solution to me...or am I missing something? It would be of course an expensive upgrade to have a wake-up functionality on the v1. However, if I add an Essence exclusively to the v1, what would be the disadvantage (assuming that it works)? Would there be a time delay or any other technical issue?
I do not see any disadvantage to it, other than the expense.
I just saw that you mentioned you used Beotool for the setup. It is possible though to just use the Beomusic app to setup the timer of the Essence, assuming that the Essence is connected directly and exclusively to the v1, right? I'll probably test out an Essence in the next few weeks and see how it works out.
How did you exactly connect the Essence to the v1? I read both manuals for the Essence and the v1 as I am wondering how to connect them. Did you use the output for the speakers PL1/PL2 on the Essence or was it a wireless connection? Thanks in advance!
Short update: it works very good! I connected the Essence wirelessly with the v1 in the network by selecting integrated setup / primary device in the Beosetup app.
Now I can start an alarm on the Essence, and it wakes up the v1 and starts playing music. I don't really understand, why I can only choose between tunein and an alarm signal, but maybe there is going to be an update sometime. It is indeed a rather expensive upgrade to have a wake-up function on the v1, but I also do think it is an elegant multiroom solution.
This morning, however, the alarm of the Essence didn't wake the v1. For some odd reason, my Beosound 1 in the hallway started playing music, though. Let's see, how the alarm will function the next days...
Anyways, thanks for your advice!
I just looked and that is all I can do also. I had not noticed that previously as the only source I wanted to select was Tune In. I do not have the Essence set as integrated. I wonder if this is normal, or if others can select other sources in the alarm function?
I have an Essence "integrated" with a ML/NL converter. The only options I have for the alarm are "TuneIn", "Alarm", "Standby" and "All Standby". I have never used the alarm function.

Probably because TuneIn/netradio is the only source, that plays constantly.
The other linkable sources: Deezer, DLNA servers and line-in (if anything connected) need to be triggered/started, before you can play anything.
