Hello,

stupid question: Whats exactly the difference between H9 and H8 (exept "redial last number") and do I have to "upgrade"?

Best regards

Strange that they went for micro-USB for charging instead of USB-C

H9 is over the ears (like H7 but with noise-cancelling).

There they are! Finally! Smile

I must admit, I have mixed feelings about these. They are no doubt excellent, and if I choose to replace my H6 these will definitely be my new ones. And I'm sure that if I do I will be really happy about them.

However, I'm not exactly blown away. They are no doubt "excellent", but they don't seem "special". Everything about them seems so predictable. We have seen them coming for a long time, and I really can't imagine why these weren't released two years ago. They fill the "over-ear, wireless, ANC" niche that has been a glaring hole in the Beoplay headphone lineup, but everything about these was bound to come, right down to the name. "Special" would be an Apple licensed W1-chip, wifi and Beolink Multiroom, or at least USB-C.

But I really do feel like a hater, writing this. I'm sure it is just me who's expecting too much. Looking forward to try them and get a feel for the sound quality. Yes - thumbs up

I prefer micro-USB over USB-C, but not both (having A1).

Maybe they are trying to follow Apple? By the latest MacBook and the iPhone 7 and you will need to sets of wired headphones.

It's a minor thing anyway.

I'm more interested if they will sound the same or have more omph-omph.. Big Smile

H9 and H7 has the same battery.

With only Bluetooth H9 plays up to 16 hours while H7 plays up to 20.

Hmm..

To clarify my point: the competition in the high end/luxury segment of wireless headphones has tightened a lot lately. And while I'm sure these will compete well, being a beofanboy I would have loved to see B&O release something that just blew the competition away. A "beolab 90" of headphones if you will, a technological tour de force. And I'm worried that, though really really good, these are not. Indifferent

Would be nice if the sound is natural this time!
Hopefully not with the current trend of unnatural bass elevation (including B&Os own products like the H6 MK2, H7 and H8).

They look nice but as Rob.B wrote: Too many products looking the same. And I strongly hope that they WORK this time ;)

Two reasons for not being an early buyer:

-the chances that there will be Bluetooth issues is pretty high

-first release is of the standard boring colors that was released with the H6.

I just have to say that the H6 was the most comfortable headphones I have ever tried.

I've ordered some. I'm banking on the Bluetooth issues having been fixed in the later H8 models and the H7.

Excellent. I can't see why the issues wouldn't have been addressed.

Hmm...this is interesting. When I ordered mine at just after 9am the price was £429 (and this is reflected in my order confirmation email). Now the UK price is £449.

You are very lucky!

Although I am struggling to understand why they are £50 more than the A8s which appear to have the same features other than being on-ear.

Indeed very strange with no USB-C. Otherwise seems like a great product but like others said this feels more like a H7 mk2 than an entire new product.

I got the same feeling with the new BV14 instead of a new mk of the BV11? I know it's a new OS but the Avant keeps its name except adding NG. All very strange naming nowadays by B&O

Also, I'm pretty amazed that, at £449, I get a cloth bag to protect them with instead of a case.

Played by B&o by the book - i received an email about the H9 launch, proceeded to the purchase-page, ordered a pair and now we wait. :)

I'll get back once they´re here, it should take 2-4 working days for UPS to deliver.

They're black. :)

I've just received a new version of the release email in the UK which corrects the price to £449. I'm assuming they'll honour my earlier order.

Now they need update the firmware to remove the last number redial from all headphones. That was just an ill-conceived idea from the start.

Anecdotal audiophile comment has it that the wired H6's are still the most authentic sounding of the range.  Would love B&O to produce a top of the range product that would compete with the likes of Sennheisers HD 800's ...

The H6 are in my personal opinion lacking bass. I am no looking for a sound similar to Beats, but they don't deliver in all music genres.

The drivers aren't capable of delivering deeper bass even with a headphone amp and equalizer.

But they are my favorite for classical music Big Smile

The unnatural strong bass elevation of all the most recent headphones are (hopefully) just a fad and this is not the intention of Hifi or a natural music reproduction - as it was tried to achieve by all Hifi and Highend Audio manufacturers.

I prefer the H6 MK1 as it has the most natural sound from all the recent B&O headphones. The bass is good enough, otherwise if I don't want good sound and just bass I could buy the cheap plastic thingy from beats. ;-)

I would love a neutral and natural sounding headphone from B&O that is as good that it could be used in a studio setup. With the current headphone range this is not possible and for recording you have to go with AKG, Sennheiser and Beyerdynamic.

You can use the beoplay app to tailor the sound significantly. Bass sells headphones and B&O are trying to broaden their appeal.

I don't mind H6 & H8.. one is wireless, one is wired.. I get that the H7 is noise cancelling, but H9 should have been a MK2... ??

I thought great sound sells headphones. Smile

The Beoplay app would only be a workaround on android or Apple devices or is the sound setting stored in the headphones?

Sorry, little correction:

H6 are over the ear and wired

H7 are over the ear and wireless with Bluetooth

H8 are on ear, wireless Bluetooth with Noice cancelling

H9 are over the ear, wireless with Bluetooth with noice canceling.

Well we all have a different definition of what great sound is I guess. Mine wouldn't include the sound originally on the H6s that you preferred. I do like my H8s sound.

My comment was that I believe that in trying to go more mass market, the default sound from headphones will appeal to a wider group of people if they have stronger bass when testing them or trying them out in store. I'm not saying it's better or worse.
