I recently picked up a Beogram 1700 and Beomaster 2200 in one purchase and an immaculate pair of Beovox S45-2s on stands in another.
All was well in my world, I love the whole setup and vinyl was sounding soooooo good.
Now though, the Beomaster won't turn on
I understand that the power switch can get sticky, the service manual even describes its replacement but I don't know how to get to it. There is a picture in the service manual which shows the control panel raised into its service position but no description of how this is achieved.
Any help or advice would be very gratefully received.
TIA
Mike

Hi Mike,
To get to the control panel, you will need to remove the aluminium top plates, first removing the black metal strip that runs across the back of the unit (the one that says Beomaster 2200)..
You will need to remove the long veneered strip on the front of the unit by loosening the four grub screws accessible from underneath. I think it's a 1.5mm hex key, but I have had to drill them out in the past which is a pain.
The control panel is secured on both sides at the top edge by a tab that needs to be released from the side panels.
"Service position" - I wish. There isn't quite enough slack on the connectors for the panel to stand upright, so I find the copious use of masking tape useful to hold it in a nearly upright position.
I have found two types of switch banks on these units, a rather nicely engineered one on a metal framework and a lesser quality plastic version housed in a black box. I suspect the plastic one is the later version and it is not a particularly straightforward retrofit to an earlier unit as you need to trim a corner of the BM resin chassis to accommodate it.
Martin (Dillen) has posted useful advice on Beoworld on repairing the power switch - if you have the open, non-boxed version. But you may just get lucky with switch cleaner and an air duster.
Regards,
Brilliant, thanks so much! ๐๐ป
Fortunately it's started working again all by itself, maybe the threat of being disassembled was enough ๐
Coupled with the very nice S45-2s I have it's a beautiful sounding amp.
