Hi all,

I purchased a pair of lovely MS150.2 and the tweeter on one of them has been replaced with a non genuine one and it is making some fuzzy noises! The tweeter in reference, is the larger silver dome one, second from the top. Does any one have one I could buy or know what is the exact equivalent I can replace it with (would prefer 100% original).

Regards.

The speaker im after is the midrange 3" dome unit and I think it is a SEAS H226. Is it the same for MS150 and 150.2?

Anyne who has a spare one would be greatly appreciated.

Do be aware that the midrange drivers are different on the MS150 and MS150.2. The MS150 driver has a clear dome and is part number 8480146 but the MS150.2 has a black, sticky dome and is part number 8480160.

Martin (user 'Dillen') often has them in stock on his Beoparts website and I can personally vouch for the quality of the parts he provides and his excellent service, as I had to buy a new driver from my own MS150.2s earlier this year. It looks like he has none in stock at the moment but it's worth keeping an eye out or sending him a message.

I have been trying to contact Martin for awhile but no response. Thanks for the info about the differences in midrange 3" speakers. I thought there was some differences between 150 & 150.2. Ok, so basically one of my MS150.2 has a silver dome and the other has a black sticky one. The black sticky one makes a "fuzzy" noise during operation. So would I need two new midrange speakers then? One to replace the bad sounding one and another to replace the silver dome one fitted in the other speaker? Thanks

Yes, it sounds like you'll need two of the correct unit.

As an aside, my faulty midrange was making the same sort of noise and it turned out that the voice coil had literally fallen off the coil former. This is not something I've seen before in nearly 20 years of designing, building and repairing speakers!

I can hardly post anymore. I keep getting timeouts. Quite annoying.

Carefully  take the driver apart (watch out for the very delicate wires, a bit tricky because of the sticky stuff used to hold the pieces together) .
Glue back the voicecoil to its ridge on the inside of the plastic dome using a small amount of 2-comp epoxy glue.
I use Araldite Standard (the blue slow setting one).

Typical symptoms are rattling, distortion or a completely silent midrange.

Does anyone know what other Beovox uses this same midrange driver?

Thanks

Do you mean the one as pictured towards the bottom of this page? If so then it might be repairable as one of mine was in that referenced MS150 thread. The repair I showed there has held up now for five years and counting.

No, I'm after the MS150.2 version with the sticky black Dome, not the opaque Dome.

I need at least one, as someone has fitted an MS150 opaque dome midrange to one of my MS150.2.
