Dear fellow members,
I have the following problem with my Beogram CD 5500 player.
Eject slide works fine, starts normal,,plays normal, but it stops randomly ( sometimes within a few seconds, sometimes after more than 5 minutes).The standby light remains on.
I replaced capacitor 2103 by the same type Philips 47 uF. It seems to play a bit longer, but stops anyway. .
I noticed, everytime it stops, the tray belt moves a bit. Looks like loss of tension grip, but just a tiny bit. The same effect happens when turning the belt manualy during playing, although this is normal protection.
I was thinking of a worn belt or tray motor. The belt pulls the tray in and out, but maybe the tension is just a bit too low. Do I have to replace all capacitors on the servo board?
Can anyone help me in the right direction?

Not a servo fault, I think.Check the voltage regulators for correct output voltage and amount of ripple.Check also for cracked solder joints, particularly at connectors.

On the main print I found components without soldering, like they are not meant to be soldered, The joint like never used , example C34. The metal pin sticking out, but no soldering.
Photos of what you find will allow us to tell you whether it is normal or not.

Those are soldered on the other side.Not what we are looking for. Check for cracks, a magnifier could be needed if your eye sight is not better than average.
I found the problem, something you never would expect. It's the spring loaded CD tray.
These springs weaken after years of opening/closing and don't have the force to open/close the tray fully. In my case the spring for opening the tray. Everytime, there was a small distance left. I pulled the tray to it's outer position and did this several times, which tensioned the spring again and kept the tray firmly in place. There is no tiny moving possible anymore and no signal from the light beam to command to stop.
That's due to the belt not having enough tension.
The correct belt is 34mm diameter, with thickness of 2 - 2.5 mm.
A round or square profile is OK.
Many sellers have belts of only 1mm thick - it does not have enough torque to push the tray out all the way.
