Hi
I am thinking of getting a new LG oled55e6v, currently I have BV11 40", but I want to keep my Beolab 9 speakers.
So the question here is rather simple, can I use LG optical out along with connection HUB, and be able to regulate volume using the original remote?
My thought was to use an optical cable from TV -> Connection HUB -> BL9, or find some kind of other smart solution, as simple as possible in other words.
I don't want to occupy the headphone out, I use those a lot.
Update: 20-12-2016
I just came to think of the HDMI-ARC output on the LG tv. If I could find a pre-amp which supports HDMI-ARC input, and give variable line out, then BL9 could be put into Line mode. So if anyone here has some ideas in that regard, I am all ears.
Update: 21-12-2016:
I wrote to Lindy in UK and got this answer - which might alse be a possibility.
Currently the only ARC enabled product we stock that allows for volume control would be our Part No. 38092: https://www.lindy.co.uk/audio-video-c2/converters-scalers-c105/hdmi-arc-dac-converts-hdmi-arc-to-analogue-audio-p8280 This will allow you to use the Audio-Return-Channel HDMI port on your TV to send audio out via L/R Phono to your speakers. You should then be able to control the volume with your TV's remote control. We have tested this with Samsung TVs however I could not confirm if it would work in the same way on an LG TV.
There is a long thread about the hub here:

N.B. Do remember, that you will have no center speaker option this way!

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Thanks, did see that thread but it seems to continue endlessly.
That LG model has its own build in speaker / soundbar - probably not as good as B11 - but still to the better.
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"

The additional speaker/s in the tv does not make it a center speaker.
That is what the audioengine in your BV11 is for.
Either it 'upmixes' from a stereo source to 3.0 - or it presents a dedicated center signal according to your settings as the center channel - for better understanding of especially spoken words/dialog.
Soundwise this would be a downgrade from your current setup.
However, if your preferences are picture - size and (maybe) quality - it might be the way to go.
leosgonewild:I tried the connection hub with optical out from a Samsung tv. I set the Samsung to give sound through optical and programmed the connection hub to adjust volume from the Samsung remote. So yes, it should work.

Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)
The pros and cons are quite difficult, I really wish it was more easy. I love b&o, make no mistake, have had b&o tv since beovision 3, but the picture on those new oled is jaw dropping and extremely desireable.
But I might go down the route and try out the connection hub along with it.
I guess a lot of the beoworlders will be interested in hearing about your experiences (if you go that route), so please keep us posted.

Nothing to add but yes, am interested as well how you fare. I have pretty much the same set up LG OLED and b&o loudspeakers. 'Connection Hub' could be a perfect solution.
So just to follow up on this one and after having a lot of thoughts, I ended up with the jack of all trade solution. A bit more expensive, but I would not go down on features and risk limiting myself.
I ditched the idea of connection hub, as it would rely too much of IR signals from the LG remote, and it would cripple me in terms of getting a proper 3.0 setup. So I ended up with a full blown solution using a marantz NR1607 with preout terminals.
So the connections are like this: TV HDMI-ARC(w. CEC) -> Marantz -> Stereo phono cable with trigger signal to powerlink female -> Beolab 9 in PL mode. This works like a charm.
The AV receiver is controlled via HDMI-CEC from the TV, so the speakers will be adjusted through the AV receiver, just using the tv remote.
Now that I have mentioned it, the remote. The LG remote is better than most other brands I have used, though there's a long way to go before you get the feel of a B&O remote. The B&O remote and the simple control of the UI is what really shines through, and it was the first thing I was missing and I will without doubt be missing it in the future as well.

beobot, I have nearly the same set up LG OLED, S8 connection hub, BL2 & BL8000. Yes that's exactly what I have done, TOSlink out from TV > optical in S8 > PL out to b&0. Yes the volume control works via LG "magic remote" once the S8 learns some IR commands from it.
Now one thing since I also have a LG with that remote, be aware the remote is actually uses bluetooth. To get IR you need to fake a receiver in the TV set up so the volume buttons send IR commands. The model and make are not important.
I did a thread to be aware of with the set up: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/23005.aspx
I will be embarking on trying to connect an OLED LG TV to some Beolab 9s.
So far, connection has been a nightmare, particularly with really, really loud buzzing. I spent so much money buying additional things such a power conditioners etc trying to get rid of the buzzing. Currently waiting on cables from Denmark.
Ill update you all with my final setup. Thanks for all the information in this thread so far!
