Our current setup is a Beoplay V 1 connected to an apple tv and  to a NAS. Everything is connected wireless. On the other side of the room is a Beocenter 2 with Beolab 9. It is connected to an airport express so that I can stream my music from a mac mini. In the same cupboard, where the socket unit of the Beocenter is located, is our acces point.

The Beolab 9 are mostly used for music from the Beocenter. But sometimes we are watching a concert on TV or Dvd so it would be great to be able to use the Beolab 9 with the TV.

We have a Almando powerlink switch but there is always a disturbing noise, no matter which cable is connected.

My questions are:

Does it work with a NL/ML converter?

Where do I connect the speakers?

Which optionprogramming is the right one?

Any answers and hints are welcome.

Thank you in advance

Ralf

Yes, this would work fine with an NL/ML converter.

I would place the converter in the cupboard with the socket unit of the BC2 and connect the two together with a Masterlink cable.

Set the BC2 to A.OPT0, configure the converter as video master, and set it's name as 'BeoCenter2'

Connect the speakers to the V1, and when configuring the sources on the television, you will be asked if the BC2/converter is in the same room and whether you want to use the V1 speakers for this.

I would connect the airport express to the line-in of the converter, as it should then automatically detect the audio when you stream your music.

Hope this helps.

Martin.

Hello Martin

Your post helps indeed, but I have some more questions. As i normally listen more often to radio with the beolab 9 I would like to have them connected to the BC2.

Does it work when Bc2 and v1 are in option 1? I dont want the Tv to be always on when only listening to Radio.

Yes, this should work too, although probably better in this setup to connect the speakers to the NL/ML converter rather than the BC2 itself to avoid audio sync issues if you add additional multiroom devices in the future.

Personally I feel the advantages of having the speakers connected to the Beovision outweight the downside of the TV spending more time 'on'. It enables you to watch video sources in a 3.0 setup (left & right from BL9 and centre channel from V1) and to configure multiple speaker groups with differing distances etc for multiple listening positions. I would expect the V1 screen will turn off automatically when listening to audio only sources (it's a while since I've encountered a V1, but this is certainly the case with other NL era beovisions).

Hello Martin

I think I will follow your advice and connect the speakers to the TV. I will receive the converter in january. When everything is installed I will post my experiences here.

Thank You
