It has long been possible to let a Beo4, through Winlirc, control media software running on a PC. I followed this path, using MPC-HC (Media Player Classic – Home Cinema). I use this for audio only, and it works well. With the Beo4, I can control basic functions like play, stop, pause, volume, mute, track up/down and step through a playlist containing internet radio stations. So far so good. However, I wonder what else would be possible.
There are a lot of options: scores of media programs, and many different plugins to choose from. I also found three different free middleware programs that can connect between Winlirc and whatever one might want to run on the PC. Any ideas will be welcome.
