I have a Beocord 3300 that I purchased that was not on working order.

The first and obvious problem was that all the drive belts were perished.

I have now replaced these with new ones. The challenge I now have is that it will not play.

Fast forward and rewind both function correctly, but when I press play the cassette drive does not appear to start and the unit switches back to stop.

If anyone has come across this before, I would be grateful for any hints on what may be causing the problem.

Regards

How many belts did you replace?
And did you get the square belt below decks fitted correctly? The motor should drive it, it shouldn't just run pass the motor.

You were right, the square band was incorrectly routed.

It now runs in play, just no sound. The Amp recognises that it is playing, as it switches to the tape mode. Just no sound.

Let me guess - all VU-meter lights are on as in max signal level as soon as you start playing?

Reason:
Missing 8 Volt reference voltage.

Cure:
Replace the two (black) 220uF electrolytic capacitors on the Dolby circuit board.
That's the small board above the main board, just to the left of the tapedeck section.
Fit new 220uF 25V components and make sure to get the polarity right.

Hi Dillen

I'm looking for a spare motor for a Beocord 3300 with an integral regulator pcb - do you have one?

Hey Martin: I have the BeoCord 4500 and the tapes play back and forward, but no sound is heard to the speakers.

My Dolby circuit board image is attached. It has but one Capacitor compared to two for the BeoCord 3300. Does this mean just the one capacitor should be replaced ?

Thanks...[View:https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B1AGegcvgGSvXBr:800:0]

Thanks Martin.

I received the capacitor kits for the BeoCord 3300 and 4500. I replaced to current capacitors in each of them, and now... THEY WORK wonderfully well.

I'm testing them playing a tape with Beethoven #8 and #9 repeatedly for several hours to make sure they 'hold up'. So far no problems and the sound/misic playback is sublime.

Thank you for all your help.

Now I must try and figure out after replacing Capacitors etc that I received from Beoparts-shop on my BeoGram CD player has not resolved the issue of it spinning up the disc and then a few moments later spinning it back down to a stop, and placing a "?" in the display.
