I'll try the post again lol.

Thanks bramble. The beer was a necessity after to celebrate.

Marky I have had them setup for 2 hours and so far they are superb. They are much clearer than the lab 3s. That could be from the height difference.

The oak colour looks rather smart and blends in very well with my silver green curtain. The good think is that I can change the lamellas. I could have also gone with the walnut because the painting on the wall is mounted on a dark wood frame.

Thinking back when I purchased the avant I also was thinking of the 18s but when I tried them in the store I didn't think they were much chop so I decided to keep my 3s which weren't being used and I would purpose them as rear speakers with the beo lab receivers.

They sound much better in my home.

Bring on Friday night so I can test out the music etc with them.

Fabulous Michael. They look great. Funny, I also didn't think much of the sound in store at first. But when I got them home they blew me away. Check out Geoff martin's BL18 demo playlist on Spotify if you want to see what they are capable of.

You're not the only one to call me silly lol. So Friday night was last night and I was in a movies mood.

One of my other recent purchases was the Toshiba BluRay and bracket i bought from STB Brackets - i havent set it up properly yet. It's plugged in to HDMI 6 and i havent set up a PUC cable with it yet. It's quite a good Blu Ray and I recommend it. Say for example i'm watching foxtel and i insert a disc in to the player, the player turns on, the avant switches inputs and the screen is blank until the movie starts. It auto plays - it's really great. On the box it says it has BBC iplayer and also Netflix - but i cant see where they are, not that i really use these services out here in this room.

I wanted to play a movie with good effects. No i didnt decide on Star Wars, no i didn't choose TRON, I chose Master and Commander. I'm not really a Rusty fan (Russell Crowe) but I do like the movie.

Turning the volume up to 50 was spectacular. The BL18s were amazing as rear speakers. Not sure if it's the height or the fact there is multiple speakers inside and the ALT lens up the top but in the quieter scenes when they were in the boat and with all the creaks and swaying, you actually felt like you were in the boat - it was kind of weird, but good.

I'm still happy with the Avant speakers as fronts and with the BL19 the combination was outstanding. I dont think i have the decibels and those sort of things set that right, there is a little bit of fine tuning required from my part, but what I heard with what the settings are, I was very impressed.

Hope this finds you all well - wasn't sure whether i should post it in here, or in a separate thread.

If anyone wants me to post the pictures of the Toshiba BluRay set up, please let me know.

Cheers

MH

Sorry for being so slow to reply. I just saw your post. I do not have a converter.  The Beosound 5/Beomaster 5 is connected by Masterlink to two Beovisions which then have speakers connected to them and to a Beolink PC which also has speakers connected to it.

The two TVs each have a separate PowerLink cable to the speakers connected to it. In the room with the Beolink PC one Powerlink goes to the first speaker and then a second Poerlink connects the two speakers.

The only Beosound I have connected is the Beosound 5. I have a Beosound 3000 but it is not connected to the system any more.

Sorry for not responding to your question sooner. I did not see it. The cables from the Beosound 5 are in the wall and run down to the basement where the Bombaster 5 is located. The Beomaster 5  is connected to the Masterlink system there. Masterliness cables then run through the walls to the locations where I have a Beovision or Beolabs located.

My apologies again. Rereading your question I realized I may have misunderstood what you were asking and thus not answered your question. I do not have two Beosounds connected but it may appear that I do with both the Beosound 5 and the Essence remote. The Beosound 5 is connected to a Beovision 10 and speakers in the same room as the Beosound 5. It is also connected to a Beovision 7 and speakers in another room. As I want to use the play timer in the Beovision 7, and the Beovision 10 does not have a play timer, the Beovision 7 is set as the video master.

Thus, if I turn on the Beosound 5  by spinning the wheels on it, instead of using a Beo 4, it turns the speakers on in the other room that are connected to the Beovision 7. Additionally the volume control on the Beosound 5 adjusts the volume in the other room.

I have the Essence remote set up such that a quick press turns on Net Radio and a long Press turns on Net Music, through the speakers in the same room as the Beosound 5. Additionally the volume control of the Essence remote controls the speakers in the same room as the Beosound 5 and Essence remote.

Normal 0 21 false false false DA X-NONE X-NONE

Yesterday I drove from Odense to Viborg in Denmark to collect the last MK BeoVision 6-26 (type 9290) with DVB-HD and 720p panel. The owners of the television sold it because they had had a lightning strike and the HDMI’s fried. I got the TV at a steal! I have tested the TV and everything except for the two HDMI ports work flawlessly. The picture quality of HD broadcast simply looks amazing on this small screen! Does anybody know if it is possible to get a new HDMI part for this set?

Nice!

Bet those Lab18:s rocks the house!

The lamellas look really nice in your setup, matching the wooden legs on the bench. A Beovision Avant would look (and sound) nice on that bench :)

Thank you for the kind words, the reason I got these past the wife and replaaced the 8000s was the oak on the beolab 18s looks so good with the oak in the house! I didn't have a home demo and went out on a limb and bought them from b&o leamington spa who were great and I don't regret it one bit.

I desperately want an avant but can't push to one at the moment as we are renovating the rest of the house perhaps next year but not before the lab 5s are replaced with the lab 20s as they blew me away when I demoed them too.

Hi sal

that video has had quite a few hits! I originally put it up to show my brother who runs some lab 9s also the new arrivals and it's been so popular I just left it on!

The lab 9s have been fantastic I bought them used from a guy in London around 2 years ago for £2750 (2009 speakers) and they haven't missed a beat since. The only speaker I would replace them with is the lab 20s but need to hear them along side the 9s to determine if they are better in my room. In the shop they certainly sounded epic!

Currently running them through a sonos connect aswell, I sold my beosound 9000 around 3 years ago for the convenience of streaming audio through Spotify and a zp90.
