You're using all the Beolab 7.x speakers in ONE surround setup? How do you mount them vertically? I guess it sounds enormous :-)

Moved to a new appartment and changed the approach - No TV (used my Beovision 6-26 MK4 very rarely) and all electronic devices are hidden away. I know that my taste of interior design is not common. For example - in my leisure time i’m wearing shoes without socks (as you can see in the Beoplay A2 advertisement).

The BL5 in Option 1 are connected via SPDIF from the Cambridge DACMagic Plus. Itunes on the MacMini can be controlled from an idevice. The hidden BeoCenter 2 is only needed to distribute Masterlink to the Beolab 3500 in the bedroom. For Kitchen and bathroom the Beoplay A2.

I'm still amazed how well the Beolab 2000 design from 1992 blend into todays interior design.

And the fact it integrates with my NL based stuff is also impressive.

I just press CD and it plays the latest used playlist from my Moment. Or press radio and it plays Tunein from MomentSmile

That is the microphone for calibration of the TV sound. Have you bought an Avant?
To calibrate your speakers to your favorite listnings position you use this.

Love that Beo makes their older products still up to date. Thanks to products like the ML/NL converter. Smile

Love playing vinyl records on my Beogram 6500 from the late 80's through my BL5's.

It is the calibration microphone, that you can buy as an extra for the Avant, if you want to make an easier/more exact multichannel setup.

'You can also perform a speaker adjustment with just the calibration microphone where distances and levels are set automatically.'

I suppose a good dealer would also let you borrow the microphone..

The people that installed mine cut mine actually so I don't have one.

I find its better to do the settings manually. It's just the distance from your sitting position.

That's a pity. I'd strongly recommend using the microphone instead since the materials and shape of a room makes a lot of difference in how the sound moves.

Old World "stereo" (remember when that was short hand for "hi-fi components setup"?) versus New World non-stereo (only one of A2s has been updated) ...

You know, I was talking with my wife the other day about how much audio has changed. I told her that back in college, instead of the mound of audio gear I had (turntable, receiver, tape deck, speakers) how much more streamlined and easy it'd be to have had two A2s or Beolit 15s and an iPad/iPhone or PC that you'd need anyway now in school. If you want to sit in your dorm room or apartment and listen to stereo, use both, if you want to go somewhere else and take your tunes with you, just grab one of the Beo speakers and haul it with you. So much more portable and easy than the old approach.

The new grey kvadrat cover for a9

I was after something a bit more textural and graphic to off set the black frame. It came off rather deco.

Hi Hiort, no way - the black acoustic cloth is actually very thin when you take it off, and when you feel it stretched its not.

The grey is a little thicker and i tried to put it on re the beoplay youtube video however i sucked at that method and found its better if person 1 is behind the a9 and person 2 is infront.

Person 1 starts from the top whilst person 2 pulls it tight toward the sides and person 1 eases the cloth over the edges

Michael.  Loving the look of the A9.  As I've said on another thread I saw the Kravdrat cover a few days ago .  The texture is fantastic.  The colour goes well with the dark legs on your A9.  The current range of covers and legs means the A9 is really very customisable.

Also loving the décor generally in your place.

That little A1 seems to fit in anywhere.

Enjoy the new stuff!

Thank you Duels and Dr Elephant on the snaps to my decor.  Most of my friends think i should do interior design, but maybe I will when i retire.

I love the texture as well - the hand is just marvellous.

Listening to the a9 tonight over a martini is such a delight to behold.  The stage is just so balanced.

Very happy with the a1 - was working from home today - and used it for all my meetings.  Someone on the call said oh i cant hear you, and thats because their volume was low lol.

I did try to see using the Beoapp if i could use my a2 with the a1 with a stereo setup but it didn't work.

I think something else maybe on the horizon. :-)
