My IR eye arrived today a week after ordering so that I can use it with my Essence.

It works really well

The only downside is that one of the pre screwed screws on the back wont come out so the backing plate wont fit properly. Its too tight and I don't want to thread the screw.

However with the BR1 it works really well.

List > Beosound

Then use > Music > Deezer or > Netradio

Long press of the remote turns off all NL products

Left for previous track; Right for next track

I didn't realise the IR eye has its own controls for Play , Join , and up and down volume.

Very nice product and very happy with it.

You actually have to do the wires yourself

This is the culprit that wont budge!

I did exactly the same as you did last weekend! Installed an Essence with an IR eye. I had the same problem with that one screw that could not be loosened, so I also used a blade to fix it. Big Smile

Even when the end result is very good, I keep on wondering if I did something wrong or whether this is a design fault in the IR eye.

I control the Essence with a Beo4

I think its a design fault

It's not so much the screw but the plastic hole it sits it - the hole is too tight

Anyway, not to worry, I'm happy that it worked out in the end.

I agree. Its wonderful to see.

Please continue, Kiran.

On a similar note: does anyone have experience with the Beo6 and Essence over IR or/and other Multiroom applications?

Yes I love the old products. They look way better.

Like you say, I am on a mission to integrate all the old stuff. It will be wicked once everything is wired up ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Do continue to share. In my opinion this is what it's all about. I wish it would be straightforward to safely integrate Datalink into Multiroom!

130 Cat6A cables coming back to a dedicated server room in the house.

I will be using 6 RJ45 Masterlink Modules and 3 RJ45 Powerlink Modules.

All 130 will be on normal RJ45 faceplates in all the rooms then I will use this special cable to connect the old ML products!

Hi Michael!

I see the IR is RJ45!

Could this be plugged in a normal wall plate and then be patched in the server room to the IR socket of the essence box in the server room?

Then I can run the Powerlink signals over Cat6A directly or using the RJ45 Powerlink Module anyway Big SmileBig Smile

So, the room just has speakers and this wicked looking round IR thing.

That is the same solution I'm going for! I think it will be awesome.

(Not sure I will get to 130 cables, though)

I absolutely agree, to me that' the main selling point. And I hope you're not right about datalink problems with Multiroom as I'm going to have a go with my 6500 system and see what's possible.

Yes

The normal wall plate (IR Eye) is what I used. This pack came with 10m cable but there are longer options

It's RJ45 at the other end to plug into an essence where ever it may be

@ Kiran:  Does the MCP work fully with the BC9500?  When I tried mine it worked fine for source selection, but that's about all.  Volume control was virtually impossible to use.  Just wondered...

I have a Beocenter 9000, not 9500.

Yes all buttons on the MCP work. The round volume dial works too but no 2-way feedback.

Interesting.  I never tried my MCP with my BC9000, and it's now slowly being stripped for spares for my BC9500 (glass panels etc).  The MCP does have the advantage of easy 'one button' source access for both AUX and TAPE2, which is very useful if (like me) you have Playmaker and Internet Radio on those two inputs.  Occasionally I use this remote, for just that reason.

Yes Guy sometimes I do get annoyed constantly pressing List on the Beo4 to find functions. Sometimes it's never ending.

I use my Beo6 the most. I configure it to a very high level with tool 6.84 and map all source buttons for each zone so like you say, it's easy one touch for any system. This is having a battery replacement in Lincoln as we speak.

Never tried a Beo6  - I just have MCPs, Audio Terminal, BL1000 x lots, BL5000 x 4, Beo4 (most versions) x lots, A9 Keyring, Beotime clock, plus of course all the phones with remotes (mostly BC6000s, but also a 5000 and the remote bases for several 1401s).  Sad I know!
