A little peak of my setup which has been slowly refined over the years. I've only recently moved in so I've yet to sort the cables (or even finish hanging the pictures), but you get the idea.

Sony A1 OLED which is simply unbelievable - picture and sound.

I picked up the BL9s last week for around 1700 GBP. 5 years old, mint condition - one owner who seemingly had never even used them.

I've grown to love the LC2. Hooked up to a Viabizzuno halogen light.

So what is the probability of two Beovision 14 - 40s being installed in Melbourne on the same week? Hard to tell, but is yours with the Parisian Midnight Blue front cover?

This ours, replacing a Beocenter 1 that was getting on to 17 years old. The Beolab 6000s are also 17 years old, but have found some new vigor since the upgrade. We can hear things (good things) that we couldn’t hear with the exact same music and videos on the exact same speakers on the Beocenter 1.

A new generation teaching old generation speakers some new tricks.

Our living room is 4m wide. So of course we need two remotes for when we are sitting in different areas.

The Beocenter 1 had served us well. But 17 years was getting very limited in a UHD world.

Is that an AppleTV connected to the BC1? What did you use to convert from HDMI to connect to it? How was the picture quality?

Well spotted! Indeed it was an AppleTV on the BC1. It really prolonged our use of the BC1.

I used a combination of a:

  • HDMI to composite video converter - roughly the same size as the Apple TV
  • A composite video to scart cable to connect the converter output into the BC1.

Image quality was excellent, so long as you are happy with Standard Definition and a black bar at the bottom (being 16:9 format). I did find that the quality of the HDMI converter did matter - some have less contrast than others. I used this model: https://www.svideo.com/hdmi2video.html

You change the source on the BC1 to V.Aux for the 2nd Scart connection - previously we had the B&O VHS recorder connected there (back when VHS was a thing).

Thanks!

I have been thinking getting something like this for my Beovision 3-32 - still a lovely TV with great sound (and 16:9). Having an AppleTV would greatly increase it's usability.

Might get one now hearing your positive review (most I've read have been very negative about HDMI-composite -adapters). The one you linked also has s-video, which should be much better (over composite), have you tried that?

Hi SteveJCW

Very good both TVs being set up in the same week. Woohoo.

Mine is with the black cover. But I’ll most likely change this in time. I’d like white and beige and perhaps the dark green.

With the A9 I have all of the covers. Big Smile

Hello lausvi

I dont have any experience with the svideo output. But one tip is to get an integrated svideo to scart cable, or integrated composite to scart cable. That way you can slide the cable area cover back on the BC1.

LG OLED C7 on Beovision 7-32 stand with Beolab 7.2 and S8 connection hub for sound optical to analogue conversion (and a taste of Chromecast audio). PS4 hanging on the back Big Smile

Style and design doesn’t have to cost a fortune (I would change it for a Beovision 7-55 in a second)

Nice Leo! Recent (OLED) B&O tvs are very costly indeed, I find your re-use of the stand and the speaker with the LG screen very stylish!

Chiche make me ask: Did you get that Oneremote PCB to control your LG TV with a Beo4?

Thank you, guys. Nice to hear.

If the LG version of a Beo4 would be fully functional, I would get one.

Do you have any idea about this? I don’t even know if the C7 works with IR.

About IR commands I dont know.

But about full usability, i can testify on the Samsung version.
I had to send it back for paypal and parcels mismatch reasons but i could test it for a week or so and it was like better than the original Samsung command i have to deal with now.

I'll explain : I've a SS TV with a Mac Mini MediaCenter hooked to it.
With Beo4 -> press SAT, the TV start on the HDMI IN Channel and send Apple commands to the Mac Mini.
With SS remote -> Start the TV THEN choose  source menu HDMI IN THEN Change Remote and control the mac with the Mac Remote.

Appart from that, I didn't experience any missing commands: TV guide/previous channel/Info… ll worked fine. Just the mute function quite capricious.

Of course my experience is based on a SS "dumb" TV; But all in all I miss that board. Since I've returned it I've now have 4 remote lying on the table and just one is pretty (the beo4 for the ouverture…)

Worth a try to me.

In your other thread (archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/35125.aspx), I think David R. answers this "yes" by saying he uses a Logitech Harmony with his LG TV. [Edit: Oops, he has an older set.  But AVSforum discussions confirm IR for the C7.]

Of course there are different flavors, but somehow I like the natural aluminum more than the black.

Here are some instant thoughts.

Picture quality and interface, excellent. I know they’re LG, but they’re not exactly some backward company with a small R&D department. Quite the opposite. Better than Loewe by some distance.

The TV picture just comes on though, so even before the stands done it’s pirouette, the picture and sound are already going. Not very elegant at all. Even our Loewe has curtains timed to effect. There’s no excuse for not being able to make such a small modification, to what is a niche product.

The sound bar is simply fantastic. I’ll add a Beolab 2 and a transmitter hopefully, but the sound bar can nearly do it all, and it’s really LOUD. 50-53% is all you need for a movie.

The remote is a worthy successor to the Beo4, in as much as its brilliantly laid out and useful, and also suffers from not being backlit! The buttons are so small, there’s no way you could navigate by touch or feel. Keep your mobile handy. Still excellent though.

We’ve watched a couple of 4K discs now. Ready player one by Spielberg, and Dead pool 2. I’ve seen some good streamed 4K, and some rubbish too. Apple TV stutters it’s way through movies in comparison. The discs are the only true way of getting the most out of a 4K tv like this.

If you grew up in the eighties player computer games, you’ll love this.

https://youtu.be/D86RtevtfrA

Immature humour, foul language and gore. Hilarious

I bought a Panasonic UB300 4K player, for just over £100. There are more expensive models by Panasonic, but all they do is add extra functionality. The playback is exactly the same quality, so save your money for the overpriced discs.

Thanks Chris for this, really nice post.  I like your comments vs the Loewe.

One thing i noticed when i previewed the Eclipse is that speaker - man is it clear and loud.  I thought the Avant was good, but this is on another level all together.

Cheers

Michael.

Turn off "quick start" and the picture and sound will come on at the same time. You will also get the Bang Olufsen logo on startup.

A bit surprised that you see stuttering when watching 4K over AppleTV. Check what video settings you have on AppleTV.
