Hello! Im new ro the forum.

I hope that somebody can help me with this. I am sorry if this was already asked, but I couldnt find the specific answer searching in the forum.

Currently I have:

- Beosound 2300

- Beolink Passive and converter

- 2 beolab 8000

- 2 non-B&O speakers

Current set up:

a) 2300 hooked to beolab 8000

b) non B&0 speakers in another room plugged to Beolink passive. Master link from beolink passive to converter. Converter to AUX slot in beosound 2300

Question and problem:

I want to bring my B&O system into the digital world and add an Airport Express to be able to stream music (itunes, spotify, etc) to my set up. The problem is that a) there is only aux slot in the besound 2300 and b) I would want to have music out of my 4 speakers (and not decide either if I want to plug the airport express OR the passive to the aux). How can this be done??

Also, is the "converter" i am using (original from B&O) a DAC, and therefore would it make sense to plug the airport express into that?

Thank you and marry christmas!!!!

Is your converter the BeoLink 1611? Then I believe you should consider getting the NL/ML converter in place of the passive one.

If you look at the specs, one can then hook up masterlink, power link speakers, airport express (or essence) to the aux input, an IR control puck for Beo 4 operation, and network connectivity so that you may control the system with the BeoMusic App

Easy now - if my memory serves me well, Steve (at Sounds Heavenly) makes a cable that can be used for this purpose.

I am not quite sure if it is this one - better contact Steve directly.

Just describe , what you need (or link to this thread - maybe he reads it anyway).

He will be happy to help you, I am sure.

P.S. No the 1611 is not a DAC - Datalink and MasterLink work in the analog domain.

MM

There is a tv - and there is a BV

I not sure that cable would work if he want global distribution to all 4 speakers. Unless his passive converter has an aux input as well, and he hooks up two airport expresses.

You will need a cable that separates the input signals from the output signals of the AUX connector. The output signals continue to drive the converter while the input signals should be connected to your Airport Express. If I'm not wrong, everything should work as desired. However you will need some solderings skills to build such a cable by yourself. You also may take a look at http://beotech.beoworld.org to find connector layouts etc.

Thank you all for the replies! I have contacted Steve and he pointed me into a double aux cable and then another one from the aux to 3.5mm. I will try it once it arrives !

Now In terms of devices to connect to Spotify etc, everyone points me to the airport express (and eventually a dad for audio quality). But recently I came across the amazon echo dot and though it would be cool to control it with my voice vs reaching my phone. Is the echo dot an adequate replacement for the airport express ??

thanks !
